Have you ever telt like your sourdough was almost there, but not?!? I just might be delivering the missing piece today 👀⬇️ I’m not kidding when I say this, last night I had this idea for when I baked my loaf today. I added a simple pad of cold butter to the top of my loaf before baking... and in the spirit of over-exaggeration, Y’all it changed EVERYTHING!! 😲🗝️ The crust? Rich, golden, slightly crisp with this buttery depth that made it taste straight out the local bakery you’d drive 30 minutes for. The smell alone had me and Bo about to go crazy waiting to cut into it 😜 The best part? It took zero extra effort!! So if you’re baking a loaf this week, do not pass go. Do not collect 💯 Just add that butter! Save this so you don’t forget 🔖 Here’s go-to sourdough recipe: * 125g active sourdough starter * 350g water * 525g unbleached all purpose flour * 13g salt * ~25g honey Directions (simple version): Mix, rest, stretch & fold, bulk ferment, shape, and cold proof overnight. 🗝️🏆Right before baking → add a healthy pad of cold butter right on top of your dough. Bake: * 470°F covered for 27 mins * 450°F uncovered for 5 mins That’s literally it 🙌🏽 Sometimes it’s not doing more... it’s just doing one small thing differently!!
