If you are a woman over 40 with dry and mature skin, cream blush is your best friend! It melts into our skin going you a lovely natural flush and is so flattering.

Powder blush can sit on top of your skin and can make emphasize dry skin and make it look flat!

My top tip for applying blush is to remember what I call the 3 finger rule!
Place 3 fingers next to your nose and do not apply any blush there.

Apply blush in an upward motion and blend out! Do you see how it visually lifts your entire face? Such an easy tip!

My morning skincare routine as a 52-year-old makeup artist with dry, sensitive, rosacea-prone skin ✨

At this age, I’m not trying to use ALL the things. My goal is to keep my skin calm, hydrated, glowy and prepped for makeup—without irritating it.

A few things I’ve learned along the way: gentle is better, hydration is everything, and SPF is non-negotiable. And when my skin is happy, my makeup looks SO much better. 🤍

Here’s my best travel makeup tip: I keep this bag packed at all times and completely separate from my everyday makeup. That way, I’m ready to go at a moment’s notice—no scrambling and no forgetting my favorites.

The bag itself is washable 🙌 and inside is a mix of minis + tried-and-true makeup favorites I know work on my mature skin. I even keep brushes simple with one double-ended brush.

As a 52-year-old makeup artist, one of the biggest things I’ve learned about mature skin is that you don’t need a complicated 10-step skincare routine—you need the right ingredients used consistently.

Here’s the simple anti-aging skincare routine I’d start now:

☀️ MORNING
Azelaic acid
Vitamin C
SPF 50

🌙 EVENING — Sandwich Method
Snail mucin or a hydrating serum
Tretinoin
Rich moisturizer/barrier cream

The goal? Brighter, smoother, more even-looking skin and a healthy skin barrier—which also means your makeup has a much better canvas to sit on.
