For this room I channeled Nancy Meyer’s. It’s a little bit “Something’s Gotta Give” and a dash of “The Holiday.” When I look at our home as a whole I see glimmers of her style throughout. I’ve been waiting to redesign our living room since April and she’s finally perfect. This is the culmination of ten years of hard work. Years of designing, painting, repainting, saving, and becoming have blossomed into our beautiful home and I couldn’t be more proud. Coming home to a beautiful environment is not what I love most about my life, but it’s high on the list.

I’ve been dragging my feet finishing the hallway. I don’t know if it’s because it’s such a narrow space or that no one really sees it but us. All that’s left to do is place the artwork in the frames but I’ll leave that as a surprise for now. My craft nook is finally finished as well. It’s a pretty sight to wake up to every morning.

I still can’t believe I bought this hutch for forty dollars. There’s something special about dove grey and copper bathed in sunlight during golden hour. Even though I’ve been staring at it for ten years, this room still makes me smile.

When it comes to our living room I’ve had mixed feelings. There are corners I love but it feels disconnected somehow. Living rooms are difficult, it’s one of the most lived in rooms of our home so it needs to be comfortable. Balancing comfort and beauty is a fine skill. I’m on a journey with our living room and this is my first step. I fell in love with this chair over a year ago and it seems to be the perfect piece to build a room around. We have to finish our homes one step at a time. A collected home takes time and the best homes are a reflection of the people within them.

February is for tea parties and cookie making. When I was a little girl my mom threw me a tea party for my birthday with this exact teapot and cups. She gave them to me a few years ago and I’ve cherished them ever since. Today, they make an appearance.

A few spring touches have made their way into our home. I actually love snow and am not trying to rush winter along. The house just looked so bare without all of the Christmas decor. I don’t think I’ll do much more for spring besides adding some fresh flowers.
