It’s the feeling of strawberry juice running down your arm, the way the sun warms your skin, the morning bird song that arrives earlier and earlier every day, the blueberries beginning to bud, the sprinklers beginning their tick, tick, tick... the way you suddenly find yourself driving with the windows down and the music up. Summer is a feeling, not just a season.It’s cotton slipcovers and cake plates full of berry pies, the doors open, the scent of roses in the air and hydrangeas bursting in bloom. It’s white eyelet sundresses and barefoot walks in the grass. It’s lawn mowers, wicker baskets everywhere and vases overflowing with flowers cut from the garden. It is carefree, bright, optimistic, and, who would fault us for not wanting that summer feeling to last forever?
