Back to regularly scheduled content aka back to not being on break and early mornings. I so wish I was a morning person! ✨are you a morning person?

We had a long winter break this year which was nice but with the holidays falling midweek, didn’t seem like a break, if that makes sense.

Overall, winter break was so nice and rejuvenating. Not used to being up at 430 though or not being able to use the bathroom whenever I feel like it 🫠

I repotted some plants over break and moved these Hoyas into a chunkier soil. They were in the coco coir they came in and not thriving so I moved them to a chunkier mix and my fingers are crossed.

It finally happened. The dreaded (or not??) all pink leaves.

When the leaves are all pink, they lack the chlorophyll needed for photosynthesis and will essentially starve itself —whomp whomp.

The last leaf actually has a tiny speck of green on it but if the next leaf comes out all pink I am going to chop and prop and see what happens. (They are sooooo pretty though). There is already another new leaf ready to pop so I will update soon!

My watering day is all about prevention and growth—especially now that the resident outdoor plants are inside for the winter.

I rotate between bio fungicide and bio protectant from @growarber and I add fertilizer and BTI drops for those pesky gnats. I use the BTI drops every watering and fertilize about every other watering in the winter and every time in the summer.

➡️Let’s talk about sun stress!

Direct sun can sometimes turn plant leaves pink, red, or purple. It’s a natural reaction. Some people like to encourage a little sun stress for those vibrant colors.

I did not intentionally set out to have this sunrise be this sun stressed but being in a southwest window I should have assumed it would be. I moved it out of the window and onto the table so it wasn’t directly in the sun’s path.

That said, proceed with caution or monitor your plants because not all Hoyas tolerate it well, and too much sun can lead to burns!

✨Care tips I am trying for my Hoya Sunrise (every environment is different but this is what I’m trying):

☀️ Bright, indirect light to help those leaves pop with color
💧 Water when the soil is dry to avoid overwatering
🪴 I prefer coco coir chips and perlite—minimal soil but any well-draining soil is fine

✨What is your favorite herb? I think mine is dill. I love using it in pickles, cucumber salads, fish, with potatoes—everything, really.

Last summer I had every intention of bringing this indoors so I could have herbs all winter but I forgot about it 😜 oops

In this herb planter I have:
🌱dill
🌱rosemary
🌱parsley (x 2 on accident)
🌱basil
🌱lemon grass (not sure what to do with that yet)
🌱cat nip
🌱microgreens
🌱spinach
🌱thyme

I also have a section of my garden that is filled with herbs (oregano, mint-in a pot, thyme, more basil, and dill). I want to see which one does better for my situation.

✨Have you ever done a massive landscaping overhaul? Tell me about it in the comments!

I literally lost sleep trying to figure out what to do/how to save these big bushes.

I tried to come up with every solution to save them but ultimately removing the bulk of them was the most cost-efficient and reasonable decision.

Disclaimer: I’m not an expert at anything landscaping but I am on a *landscaping journey* AND I knew to call before you dig. The property is marked so I knew where to dig without hitting lines. ✨Friendly reminder to call before you dig!✨

I’m sure the root ball on these was much deeper than what I pulled out but I’m going to attempt to transplant the ones I saved.

💜I also have a plan to deal with the creeping Charlie but I haven’t done anything yet because I don’t know what the fence will bring/I’d rather do it all at once.

The dogs were so patient while I was getting these out and they definitely got a lot of playtime after I was done.

So far these adhesive hooks have been doing their job.

Many people are saying they won’t last long but they’ve been up for a month with no give so I will report back.

I don’t plan on putting anything bigger in these pots. These are strictly for 4 inch pots (maybe 3 or 5 inch pots sometimes) and the plants will be moved to another pot when the time comes!

Idc what anyone says, this Wet N Wild foundation and powder is my go-to for everyday makeup. Tbh I mix it with my moisturizer and have a tinted moisturizer situation happening but it’s still awesome.

In the winter I use “Soft Ivory”and in the summer I use shade “Soft Beige” and translucent powder
