Can you spot one of our two new family members?! We adopted two kittens (sisters) from a local shelter a couple of weeks ago 😻

On a side note, I ordered this tan leather sofa for our family room just before we heard about the kittens. Talk about bad timing!!! 🤣😭 I just love how cozy this room has become with the sofa and various textures, but our kittens are accidentally scratching this up when they play! Thankfully, I’ve found some great products that condition the leather and buff out the scratch marks, and we’re teaching them to get their claws into the cute cactus scratching post I just bought.

What does your work-from-home situation look like these days? I don’t have an office, but I have a desk in our family room from which I can run my business. I keep it pretty organized style it in a way that inspires me. With the kids at home on quarantine, teaching, working, and cleaning is definitely a juggling act but I’m grateful for this workspace of my own.

How are you holding up?! Is your inner homebody loving the social distancing, or have these latest developments turned your life upside down?

What a crazy time this is! I hope you’re staying informed and making the most of your time at home, assuming you are staying home (pleeease if you can🙏🏼). We’re adjusting to the new reality of homeschooling for the next few weeks, or however long it takes.

Our kids are complaining of boredom and missing friends and family, and my productivity level has taken a hit, but hey, it’s not that bad! We can handle it. We can play games, go for walks, watch movies, and stay in touch via email, video, and social. We’re getting a LOT of use out of our dining table right now for meal times, crafts, homework, and art. We’ve explained to our girls over and over again why this is so important. Struggling for a little while is nothing compared to the potential alternative!

My heart goes out to those physically affected by this, to their loved ones who cannot visit them, and to those unable to work during this time. Let’s all do our part in preventing the spread of this awful virus and pray this thing is over soon!

I played musical rugs and switched out the vintage one for this gorgeous handmade one because I missed how bright it was in here with a cream-colored rug. I just love this one! It’s a pretty, creamy beige with brown details and it’s gorgeous in person!

One tip if you get this for yourself: vacuum like crazy when you first unroll it! Initially it shed a LOT of wool but then it calmed down and now all is well ☺️

Feeling grateful for today. My kids are here, waking up, and my husband is by my side. As we were all reminded yesterday, life is short. We spent time with friends yesterday, making sure to pray for our time together and for those grieving the loss of their family.

I’m moving into the new year with more intention - with my time and focus, and also with our home decor. I’m editing our existing furniture, lighting, and accessories, and making a few changes to maximize the functionality of every space.

Task lighting is great for those areas where we like to focus on a particular activity like reading, studying, working, or in this case: playing the piano. This year, we invested in a gift that I think as a family we’ll enjoy for many years. My Dad plays the piano and I loved having one in our childhood home, even though I never really learned to play more than a couple of simple tunes. I looked into all kinds of pianos, and heard great things about this smart piano. We started using the app this morning and I’m hopeful we’ll each be able to pick it up at our own speed.

Today is the last day of school before Christmas break, and I can’t wait to have the kids home! Our Christmas tree has become a little more toned down each year (apart from all the colorful handmade ornaments, which I’m ok with because they’re just so cute!).

This year, I stuck with white, metallic, and wood ornaments with a simple woven tree collar, and I think it’s my favorite tree yet! I didn’t even do a Monica this year by rearranging the kids’ decorations! Ok maybe just one or two 😂
