Easy Frosted Sugar Cookies Ingredients: * 2 3/4 cups flour * 1/2 tsp baking soda * 1/2 tsp cream of tartar * 1/2 tsp salt * 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened (at room temp) * 1/2 cup canola or vegetable oil * 3/4 cup granulated sugar, divided * 1/2 cup powdered sugar * 1 egg * 1 tsp vanilla extract * 1/2 tsp almond extract * Cooking spray Make the cookies: 1. preheat oven to 350°- line baking sheet with parchment paper 2. Whisk flour, baking soda, cream of Tartar, and salt 3. Use an electric mixer to combine butter, oil, 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar, and the powdered sugar until smooth. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Add the dry ingredients and mix on low. 4. Roll the dough in to 24 balls. About 2 T. Per cookie, arrange about 2” apart on cookie sheet. About 12 will fit on a sheet. 5. Pour the remaining 1/4 cup of granulated sugar on a plate. Spray the bottom of a drinking glass with nonstick cooking spray. Press the bottom is the glass into the sugar. Press the sugared bottom of glass on top of each cookie dough ball and press down gently. 6. Bake cookies for 8 minutes. Cookies won’t look completely done, but they will continue to set up as they cool. Let them cool completely before transferring them. Frosting Recipe Ingredients: * 3/4 cups (1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter) at room temperature * 3 cups powdered sugar, sifted * 3 Tablespoons heavy cream or milk * 1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla extract * 3/4 tsp. Almond extract * Sprinkles Make the frosting: 1. In a large bowl, use a mixer to beat the butter until smooth. 2. Add the powdered sugar and mix until combined 3. Stream in the cream, vanilla extract, and almond extract 4. Beat until smooth 5. If too thick, add cream. If too thin, add powdered sugar. 6. Use a butter knife to spread on cookies 7. Add sprinkles to decorate
