Consider this my campaign against defaulting to leggings. 😂

Listen, I love leggings. They have a time and a place. But somewhere along the way they became the automatic answer to “I just need something easy to wear.”

And I’m challenging myself to stop doing that.

Because comfortable doesn’t have to mean leggings—and getting dressed doesn’t have to mean dressing up.

Case in point: satin shorts + an oversized striped button-down + sneakers. Just as easy, but it feels so much more like an outfit.

And then I added the thing that makes me happiest…

I MADE THIS FEATHER BROOCH. 🩵

A few feathers completely changed a button-down I’ve worn a million times and gave the whole outfit some personality.

That’s the kind of styling I want to do more of: wear what I already own, but find a way to make it interesting.

So here’s my challenge for you:

Next time you’re about to automatically reach for the leggings, don’t.

Grab the shorts.
Wear the button-down.
Add the weird brooch.
Put on the fun shoes.

Because sometimes rediscovering your personal style starts with simply getting dressed again.

And yes, I may now be making feather brooches in every color. 😂

The cool-mom fall uniform starts here. 👖🍂

It may still be way too hot for sweaters and boots, but mentally? I’ve moved on to fall.

So this is how I start transitioning my wardrobe without dressing for weather we definitely do not have yet. 😂

Double denim gives me that fall feeling, while rolled sleeves, cuffed jeans and sneakers keep everything casual enough for right now.

And the easiest trick for making denim-on-denim look intentional? Keep the washes close, then break it up with accessories.

For me, that means a chocolate brown bag + a sneaker with a little personality. ❤️

COOL MOM FORMULA:

Simple. Comfortable. A little cool. And completely doable for school drop-off, errands, lunch—or wherever the day takes you.
