I use Moroccan Oil hair defense heat protectant spray along with my other heat protectant sometimes when my hair is feeling a little dry. A little of this spray (specifically on my ends) gives my hair a little extra conditioning and protection without getting overly oily. The root boost looked interesting (haven’t tried it yet) but I’m usually aim for a little volume on the hair that frames my face. This looks like it could do the trick.
