The book was a bit slow for my liking initially, but it still was an enjoyable/easy read. I felt that this one was a little too long at 589 pages. I think it could have been shortened to maybe 400-450 pages? The majority of the book centers around a criminal case, and as I read it, I kept thinking this is more of a romantic suspenseful book than a contemporary romance. I love both genres, so that was a nice surprise to me. I like how Lucy is able to incorporate different styles of writing in her books! For my spicy romance lovers, there really isn't any action until about 65% of the book. Sooo..... prepare for the slow-burn, tension, chemistry, angst, and banter! But whew once you get to that part, it is so good!!! I couldn't stand Nash calling Lina "Angel" for his nickname for her. Her full name is Angelina, so I understand why he picked that nickname for her. It is just used a lot throughout the book,! 😅 I loved that we got to see Knox, Naomi, and Wayland from TWNGO throughout the book, but I really think Lucian and Sloane's parts in the book are set up perfectly for Things We Left Behind.
