Birdie Rose is pure sunshine in my life during these dark times. Last night I had the most inspiring and helpful conversation with a girlfriend of mine. She’s a mom of 4 & owns her own business that is extremely successful. I’ve always respected & admired her parenting. She called me on her evening walk because I was desperate for some new activities to do with the kids during quarantine & I knew she’d have the answers but we ended up getting a whole lot deeper than kid activities. She spoke to my soul. I needed this so bad. We talked about God, life, husbands, & our kids. I told her I feel like I need to start a business. She advised me that starting a business with two tiny humans is not something she recommends (to any moms feeling like they need to do that right now😭)The biggest takeaway I got from her was something I hear all the time from so many parents with older children but for some reason her words, the way she spoke this truth to me, I heard her. Not word for word but it went something like this..... “The age your kids are now goes by so fast. The most important “job” you have right now is loving them, giving them knowledge, teaching them, making them feel important, raising them to be incredible tiny humans. They are sponges. You will figure out what you’re meant to “do” but this time when they are this little goes so quick,enjoy it, you will miss it one day. Anything you are doing, if it’s the laundry have Maverick find all your socks, if you are cooking involve him in it, have him sort your silverware, anything that makes him feel involved & important. Let him help you make his meals & then teach him to clean up with you (LOVED THAT) tell him you are doing 5 activities today and he gets to pick them all. 2 of them he gets to do with mommy and the other 3 he gets to do on his own. When Maverick has a tantrum try hard not to match his energy.“ There was SO much more than that but I woke up today feeling incredibly grateful for friendships like this & inspired to teach my children, to pour everything into them & my husband.
