last year ‘going to the gym regularly’ was my new year’s resolution for what felt like the 100th time. I had never managed to stay consistent before and somehow something changed for me last year. I stayed consistent, I kept going, I never missed a workout. I wish I could put into words how much I hated the gym and how everything in me would lock up and would absolutely refuse to even look at the gym as anything else but punishment because even typing it out that I have been going to the gym for a year now is soooo surreal. To me, the gym always meant punishment, punishment for not eating right, for not looking how society wanted me to look instead of a place of healing, a place to give my body an outlet, a place of health and strength. I truly can’t even believe I am typing this but I wanted to share that it is possible to heal your relationship with the gym. That it no longer makes me feel like ‘not enough’ but it makes me feel strong and feeling strong is longevity and health. Thank you @randydoes_it (who happens to be my husband yes but he’s also an incredible trainer) for creating a safe space in a scary gym world where girls like me feel confident enough to keep going ❤️‍🩹✨ this year my new year’s resolution is to heal my relationship with food because at 33 I want to be in the best health i’ve ever been in. Anyways, I’ve you’ve read all this let this be your reminder that anything is possible and that that new year’s resolution can com true ❤️✨ gymjourney
