All I can say is skylight to the rescue! 🛟 Am I having pep talks with myself about laundry and clutter? Yes. I’m the kind of person that struggles with sitting still, not doing more, just letting go. No matter how many times we tell ourselves not to stress, it’s the nature of mumming to stress, to feel like we have to do everything. Can you relate? Ok, so let’s move on to how I can talk myself out of the tidying vortex in these moments ⤵️ It comes down to ☝️ main thing. I have agreed with myself and even put it in my calendar that I am going to designate a specific time each day to tidy my home. It’s not the same time every day, I don’t spend hours on it and it depends on my work and family schedule. It’s different on weekends vs weekdays. But it is something I think about every week and take 10 minutes to schedule. What works for me is a 20 minute tidy up in the mornings and a 20 minute tidy down in the evenings. I’ve asked my husband to be a part of this and he handles dishes and wipes down surfaces at night. On the weekends we do it during quiet time and then after everyone is in bed. The result is that I know things are going to get done because I have a system. So in moments like this, as hard as it is to leave and close the door, I have this in my back pocket and it’s the difference between me saying you go ahead without me and being present without guilt (self imposed guilt included).
