Hi, there! We’re Kim + Scott, Chicago-based home designers creating rooms that feel like a hug. We’ve been building an online community of fellow home-obsessed friends for almost 17 years, and we’re so happy you’re here! Here’s what you might not know about us, on a more personal note.👇 ▪️We were neighbors in college, fell in love over our shared joy of music and horror films, married in 2008, and have been together for over 22 years. ▪️Yellow Brick Home started and as a blog in 2009, where we wrote about transforming our builder-grade Chicago condo together – all 650 sq ft of it! The blog is still active today, and the name Yellow Brick Home is an ode to the yellow brick exterior of the condo building, the first home we purchased together in Chicago! ▪️While struggling with infertility (a pain I wish on no one), we booked a weekend away in nearby Sawyer, Michigan to take a brain break. We were instantly smitten with the area, bought a tiny fixer upper, and we now rent that home on Airbnb! (We later found out I was pregnant on that very trip.🥹) ▪️Pet rescue is our passion. We’ve adopted 5 pets together (not all at the same time of course!) and as a small human family of 3, we find endless joy over fostering dogs in search of their forever homes. ▪️Speaking of, we’re a family of 3 by choice, and waiting until our mid-thirties to have a child was intentional (albeit delayed by fertility issues). Our daughter Lucy just turned 8, and we consider ourselves a power trio! We are complete. ▪️We’d describe our style as cozy, classic, and cheeky. We enjoy sharing ways to make your home feel warm and achievable – with a dash of quirk. ▪️Smaller homes have our hearts all day long. A tiny home encourages creativity, outside-of-the-box problem solving, and endless opportunities for togetherness. ▪️We believe in equal rights of all people, love is love, and gun reform NOW, because our kids deserve a safer, better world than the one they’re on track to inherit.
