There’s something so special about the recipes that carry stories with them 🤍
This is Haresa — a traditional Arabic dish made with barley and beef.
My parents made it on cold mornings and holidays, and now I make it for my kids.
The smell fills our home with warmth and comfort — the kind that reminds you where you came from.

Ingredients:
• 4 cups water
• 1 tablespoon salt
• 1 ½ cups pearl barley washed
• 4 cups beef broth
• 1 ½ pounds top sirloin steak (frozen in broth or fresh)
• 1 can chickpeas
• Lemon, for serving

Instructions:
1. Add water, salt, pearl barley, beef broth, and top sirloin to your slow cooker.
2. Cook on low for 6 hours, stirring occasionally.
3. After 2 hours, add one can of chickpeas and stir.
4. Serve warm with a squeeze of lemon for brightness.

✨ Traditionally enjoyed across the Middle East — often even for breakfast on holidays — this cozy, nourishing dish is comfort in a bowl.
