Four fall outfits, but what I really love is how many of these pieces work more than one way.

The rich walnut palazzo pants go from a simple soft-mink sweater to a lace camisole and long blazer. And that cranberry? The ribbed sweater tee and satin wide-leg pants are gorgeous together, but add the houndstooth jacket and it becomes an entirely different look.

This is the kind of fall shopping I want to do: pieces that feel special when you put them on but can still earn their place in a real wardrobe.

You don't need a complicated outfit to look polished.

Sometimes the simplest formula works best: a black ribbed tee, classic black blazer, medium-wash jeans and block-heel loafers. Four pieces, nothing fussy, but adding that blazer takes an everyday jeans-and-tee outfit and immediately makes it feel more elevated and pulled together.

And THAT is why I keep talking about wearing white jeans into fall. You don’t necessarily need different clothes when the season starts to change. Sometimes you just need to change what you’re wearing with them.

This week’s real-life outfits went from casual white jeans and sneakers to leopard heels, suede flats, fall cardigans and rich cranberry. Easy, classic, wearable outfits for that in-between September weather when it doesn’t quite feel like summer OR fall.
