Once the Christmas bins are packed away, I always appreciate a little visual breathing room in my home. And if I’m honest, that’s usually when I start seeing Valentine’s Day decor everywhere… and feeling zero rush to do the same.

The other day I walked into Hobby Lobby for some craft supplies, and I was overwhelmed with the floor to ceiling shelves stuffed with holiday decor.

What are we doing, y’all? It’s all imported junk that will make its way to the landfill. Sad, honestly.

A little tour of our dining room this Christmas.

The busyness of Christmas when our kids were small was, frankly, overwhelming. Ken worked nights, weekends, and holidays, so the magic of Christmas fell on my shoulders. Now that our kids are grown, I am so happy to continue to creating magic for them. Our home is too quiet when they’re not around. I also came to realize that while Ken was busy working holidays, he missed out on experiences with them. He absolutely loves Christmas, so any opportunity I get to decorate our home for Christmas is worth it.
