giving my reading journal a little sparkle for February 💕✨

the great thing about this passport-sized notebook is that I can be playful with my spreads without it taking 30+ minutes to setup! Within 10 minutes of opening a blank page, I had a new reading tracker ready to go for the month!

a peak inside my pocket leather journal

this is my second year using this mini journal from @paper_republic and it’s suchhhhh a treat to use 🥹

I’m staring off with three passport-sized @travelers_company inserts for random notes, my 2026 reading journal and a 2026 memories log 🙌

everyone needs a SMALL journal

especially beginners!!

don’t get me wrong, I loveeeee an A5 but if you’re new to journaling (or trying to get back in the habit) working with a smaller canvas can be helpful !

✅ less overwhelming
✅ takes less time to fill-in
✅ can easily come with you on-the-go

my pocket size @paper_republic is where I like to be playful with my journaling, so I think it makes for a great entry into the journaling world !!

I decided to “paint” my loaf with some crushed up dehydrated strawberries that I turned into a paste with a little bit of water….obviously the red didn’t stay the same colour after baking, but it still do a good job of holding shape! My cooking goal this year is to improve my sourdough scoring & art abilities 🙌

(To ensure it didn’t burn, I cooked my loaf covered with a lid for 80% of the cooking time!)

hot foil embossing my diy leather journal!!

even though I’ve been crocheting for over a year, this is my first wearable crochet project!! it’s far from perfect, but I think it’s so cool that I was able to make something I could actually use 🙈 I’m feeling inspired to tackle a hat next (probably because, as mentioned, it’s FREEZING in Toronto 🥶😰)

custom tin journal cover 🥹✨

I was so insired by the tin embossed gift tags I created over the holidays, that I wanted to find a unique way to incorporate this crafting technique into my life in 2026….I’ll look at this cover everyday when I write my daily single-page journal entries in 2026, so I couldn’t be happier that I now have something beautiful and custom to feast my eyes on 🙌

I’m using a basic sharpie s-gel pen to draw out a floral design (highly recommend doing this on a medium-soft surface like a paperback so that the design really pops out)

would you ever try tin embossing? 👀 you can buy tin crafting sheets rather than flattening out aluminum foil pans if you want a super clean look !

2026 is for analog planning 😇

I revamped my filofax for 2026 (there’s a whole video on my YouTube channel LINKED IN MY BIO that walks through the process)….it’s my second year using the personal ring binder system and I love using it for my morning to-do lists so that I spend less time looking at a screen.

I didn’t use the built-in credit card slots a whole lot last year so I cut cardstock to make mini “folders” that can slip inside them…I’m using these to write down my contact information (in case I lose my planner in the wild), and some life and work goals that I don’t necessarily want easily visible. I think it makes great use of the space!

a new way to reflect and plan for 2026 ✨

and just to be clear — I LOVE vison boards and make them yearly….but if you’re looking for a fresh way to creatively plan/journal, I can confirm making a faux magazine is so fun!

I just used a combination of different Canva templates to make mine (although the “what’s in my bag” spread is one I created from scratch to replicate some of my favourite magazine spreads) 🥰

I used to read Seventeen magazine alllll the time growing up, so this diy-session felt super nostalgic to 28-year-old me !

me and my hot foil pen are going to be customizing everything in 2026 😏🔥

unsure how it took me this long to discover a tool like this, but I’m so glad I did (the one I’m using is pretty inexpensive— I found it on Amazon and have it linked in my bio)

I focused on the interior because I’m VERY new to this and did not want to mess up the cover lol

A5 LEATHER JOURNAL: to DIY or BUY?

DIY IF:
✅ you have interest in the process (and are okay with doing some research before you commit)
✅ you’re okay if your journal has some imperfections
✅ you want to gift these to friends & family (cost per journal starts to really go down)

BUY IF:
❌ the process sounds more stressful than fun
❌ you won’t ever make another journal again (there’s a lot of tools that may go to waste)
❌ you want professional quality (I think mine look great, but it’s also a basic version without built-in pockets, clean embossing or stitching)

this is the @moleskine recipe journal, but I gave it some upgrades using a collection of food stickers from @amazonca and by adding red dividers between each recipe category…..I love the playful energy of it! DIY LEATHER JOURNAL

I’ve always wanted a trifold leather journal but after seeing so many tutorials online I realized I wanted to try making it myself!

Plot twist — it’s actually easier than I imagined and SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper to diy this than to purchase one….especially because I bought my leather in bulk so I can make these as gifts! I can do a full price breakdown in another video if you’re interested 👀

I have zero leather-crafting experience, so it’s far from perfect like the ones you’d buy BUT I think it still looks amazing!! I’m so glad I invested time into figuring out how to do this because my world feels opened up to other leather projects now 🙌
