Unfortunately our pool did not come with lights.

And the kids always want to swim in the evening.

But I don’t like how dark it is out there.

So, first of all: lining the entire pool fence with Edison bulb string lights is breathtaking.

And then, of course, the blow up fairy light balls (sooooo pretty at night!).

The last piece (and these line our deck, paths, and driveway), are solar dock lights that you can run over with your car. We have these all over our property lighting paths.

We try to do family portraits when we have a kid graduating: because generally that means that everyone is in town. We like to do all black so what you see is the faces and the smiles, and not the chubibess or the dated outfits that will live in infamy 50 years from now. This is what me and the big guy wore to create timeless photos 📸

Six months ago I didn’t know anything about rugs. A friend of mine was asking me for a recommendation and I admitted to her that it was an area of design that I knew very little about.

As I started researching, the guilt set in: knowing how long I had been buying products that were not only inferior, but were also essentially mass-produced plastic.

We’d been looking and waiting for the right rug for our banquette space and I knew I wanted something really special.

When we received the Persian rug from Los Angeles Home Rugs that we had selected I was blown away. I actually sat there with my coffee, cat in my lap, just wondering why I had waited so long to do my research.

But I’m a changed designer.

Making Fresh pasta? Yes please!⬇️
2 cups OO flour & a dash of salt in your mixer with the paddle. Then drizzle a whisked mixture in with machine on 2: 2 tblsp water, 2 tblsp olive oil, 2 yolks and two eggs. knead for four minutes then feed 1/3 dough ball through the attachments… we do setting 1, 4, 6 on flat attachment then run it through the spaghetti attachment. Boil 1-5 minutes depending on size. Prepare as usual and serve!#LTKhome

Spice cabinet makeover for way less than you think…
The secret? Classico jars are made to be reused. We wash them and use them for freezing soups and organizing the pantry. And then dishwasher when we’re done!
The other jars? The spice jars are glass, good quality with matching stickers which we also used on the larger anchor hocking jars that are really nice thick glass with glass lids (and a seal). We love how it all turned out!

What I didn’t know about HEXCLAD

Well let’s start with I did: I had thrown away all my teflon non-stick pans when I figured out that they were not the best healthy choice for our family.
.
But I was left without a replacement.
.
And a lot of sticky, messy pans.
.
And I cook a LOT. You could even say it’s one of my domestic love languages.
.
I saw the Hexclad pans advertised the first time and I was super confused. How could that work? I didn’t understand how it could be metal utensil safe AND non-stick. Or even just non-stick without the surface that flakes.
.
I had wondered whether it really, actually worked. And I was on the fence several times. But, it just felt like too big of a spend to take a chance on.
.
So when Hexclad said they’d send me some cookware so I could see for myself? I was super excited.
.
And what did I learn?
.
They’re LEGIT. They’re non-stick. For real.
.
What I didn’t know?
.
They’re fantastic with my induction top because they spread the heat out evenly on the pan. (If you’ve ever used cheaper cookware on induction you know how frustrating this is).

And now: I’m a FAN.

We haven’t given enough attention to the whiskey bar 😍
One of our favorite ways to personalize a space is to use antique or vintage finds as centerpieces in the design.
In this case, a set of barrister bookcases that wasn’t otherwise usable became a beautiful focal point and an ingenious way to display his bourbon collection.
We’ve put together some antique finds in the same wood species and era as ours ❤️

This shelfie included the cordless house phone AND a box of Kleenex. I’ve been looking for a pretty cover for the Kleenex but haven’t found a reasonable one I like yet.
