Two years ago today, I had my traditional wedding surrounded by friends and family.
Today, I’m almost 7 months divorced.

This is your daily reminder that there is no shame in leaving a toxic, abusive, or deceptive relationship. None.
And especially not when what you agreed to was built on lies.

Consent under deception is not fully informed consent.

If someone presented themselves under false pretenses or manipulated your reality to secure your marital commitment… that’s not love. That’s violation.

On this page, I advocate for women in finances, beauty, wellness, self-care, self-love, and self-respect. And I practice what I preach.
Every season of your life deserves to be honored, even the ones people don’t understand.

The truth is it’s easier to keep the man.
It’s easier to stay and carry what was never yours.

Walking away takes self-respect.
It takes a level of self-love that refuses to carry someone else’s shame.

Even when society and religion try to pressure you into maintaining titles and suffering in silence.

I do not subscribe to outdated programming that tells women to stay and endure what was meant to break them.
I will never encourage another woman to compromise her safety, her well-being, or her dignity for the sake of “family.”

So yes, I celebrate this version of me.
And I celebrate every woman who chose herself when it would’ve been easier not to.

If my joy triggers you, sit with that.

But if you’ve ever had the strength to leave something that was breaking you, just know that I’m proud of you.
And I’m celebrating you too.

Breaking free from anything that was meant to destroy you is a cause for celebration.

In a time where we are witnessing a crisis of Black femicide in the United States,
where Black women are disproportionately losing their lives to intimate partners and people they know,
choosing yourself and walking away is not just emotional. It’s about survival.

And survival is something to celebrate. 💙
