We recently added a couple of Ditty Bird books to our collection (thank you @dittybirdbooks 💛), and they’ve quickly become a favorite around here.

She saw the unicorn and instantly lit up — and that was it, I knew this toy was going everywhere with us.

The purple outfit? Obviously to match her princess dress so they could dance together. The pink ballet dress turned into a full recital — Addie even taught her unicorn a couple flips and turns. And the PJs? Well… apparently our new favorite toy doesn’t get a night off either. Straight to bed it went.

We turned the floor into a racetrack, taped markers onto cars, and let early writing look exactly like racing for once.

Racing builds hand strength, control, and coordination. They’re experimenting with pressure, direction, and cause-and-effect while staying fully engaged. Writing doesn’t have to be calm to be meaningful.

If your kid resists sitting to “practice,” try attaching the marker to something that already wants to move. Same skill building. Way more fun.

Sometimes the simplest, silliest setups turn into the best kind of learning.

Today it was magnetic wands, colorful pieces, and lots of giggles while they “gave everyone hair.”

And while it looked like pure silliness, so much was happening.

Little hands and eyes were working together, colors were being matched, and focus was building as they tried to line things up just right. They experimented, tried again, and watched what happened when the magnet pulled pieces in close.

Mostly, they were creating. No rules. No right way. Just following their own ideas and making the wildest hairstyles they could think of.

Silly on the outside.
Meaningful growth happening quietly underneath.

I saw leftover tree stumps at the lot and asked, “You don’t have a use for these, do you?”
Which really meant: I want them for a future project I don’t know yet.
Today it finally clicked.

The wood rounds turned into cupcake bases. Add in some pine cones and needles from our walks, and a little shaving cream. That was the whole setup. No prep bin, no instructions, no explaining.

I put it out and they took it from there.

I love setups like this because they’re basically free, easy to reset, and the kids always turn it into something way better than I planned.

Looking for a fun and easy activity to spark your child’s imagination? This 2-ingredient *sensory snow* is a hit! We didn’t measure exactly, but we used about 5 parts baking soda and 1 part white conditioner. Just mix and let the magic happen! ✨

Set up your snow scene with some fun items to explore. I turned our play table into a snowy landscape complete with roads, construction vehicles, and loose parts! My daughter used gemstones as buttons, and I got creative with a carrot nose by cutting out paper triangles and taping them on (mom hack for a quick fix!). 🥕

Tis the season… for simple set up play cause December is always busy!

All you need is painter’s tape and pom poms. Bonus if you have a star to add to the top!

Directions: Stick the painters tape on the wall backwards, so the sticky side is out and tape only the top and bottom the regular way to keep it on the wall. Then give your kiddos pom poms to decorate with. That’s it!

Halloween window decor made easy (because moms need a win in life) 👻🎃

Setup is super simple: cut black outlines of any spooky shapes you want, stick the contact paper to the window (yes, peeling the backing had me temporarily questioning my life choices 😅), and hand over tissue paper or in our case crêpe paper for the kids to decorate.
