Here’s my proven (and flight attendant approved!) carry on formula to keep everyone happy when we travel 🧳 ✈️

The bag: @landsend totes are incredible! My good friend gave them to both of my kids for their first birthdays. It is such an amazing gift! I love something practical and thoughtful. They hold so much stuff and hold up so well.

Most important tip: use zipper pouches! I use the largest size to keep all my items categorized. There is nothing worse than fumbling around in your bag for headphones or wipes when you need them.

Toiletry bag: wet wipes, hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, tissues, motion sickness acupressure wristbands, Benadryl for stuffy noses (helps my kids with ear pressure!)

Snacks: more is more when it comes to this bag! A little snack can go a looong way keeping a fussy toddler busy. Make sure to stick some ring pops in there for take off and landing!

Kids’ activity bags: this is kid specific! Right now my daughter’s was full of coloring supplies and games and my son’s was full of trucks and cars. Check out the @dollartree to keep this affordable! When I had babies I had window clings, post it notes, suction cup spinners and teething toys.

Electronics: my kids both have kid kindles and a set of headphones. I also bring my own AirPods (I listen to downloaded audiobooks or podcasts on the plane. We are so close to me being able to watch my own movie, but not quite yet), a portable phone charger and the kids’ kindle charger. Travel delays happen, and you do not want to get caught with a dead battery on the tail end of an unexpectedly long day!

Extra clothes bag: make sure you have a pair of undies (or diapers/pull ups), and a second outfit (I usually do a pair of pajamas) for each kid. When my kids were little I also brought an extra shirt for myself! Inevitably someone spilled something (or worse 🤪) on me and I was happy to have it.

Did I miss anything? What are your travel essentials??

Newborn essentials from a third time mom! 👶🤰🍼

Babies come with a SHOCKING amount of stuff, but there isn’t much they truly need in my opinion. Everything on this cart is something I would overnight order if I was bringing home a baby tomorrow (+ somewhere for them to sleep and a car seat)!

Bottom shelf:
- Breast pump: I’m trying out an Idaho Jones Twain this time and I’m so excited about it! It’s super cute and compact, has separate motors for each side, comes standard with silicone flanges and has multiple flange sizes included. I feel so much more prepared than I have in the past!

- Formula and a bottle: even if you plan on breastfeeding you never know! I’ve been a tired and emotional postpartum mom who has to go shopping for formula and it’s no fun. This just in case is so important for my mental health!

- nursing pads, milk storage bags and hydrogels (I prefer the hydrogels to nipple cream or silverettes but do what works for you!)

Middle shelf:
- Baby blankets: I use these for everything! Swaddles, nursing covers, burp cloths, changing pads. You name it, these can do it!

- Extra pajamas WITH ZIPPERS

- Solly wrap or whatever wrap or carrier you like! Once you get the hang of a baby wrap it’s a whole new world, especially with not your first baby.

- Extra clothes for you! No one likes to go back to bed with spit up all over them

- swaddles if you use them

Top shelf:
- diapers, wipes and diaper cream
- Pacifiers
- Water bottle and snacks for you!

Bonus: My Brest friend nursing pillow. Far superior than any other nursing pillow in my opinion!

All of these essentials are linked in my bio! What was on your essentials list??

🪚 DIY Nursing Cart — Part 2! 🍼✨

Added the finish touches to this cute little nursing cart over the weekend! I had to tag in my husband to do all the staining and polyurethane (they say fumes are not ideal for babies 🤪) then added a little handle to make moving this baby essentials station all over the house a breeze. As a third time mom, I know I’ll be on the go all day even when we’re home!

Now she’s ready to be fully loaded with all of my newborn must haves. Come back tomorrow to see everything I stocked! 🍼🍫🧷

You can find everything I used on my LTK (linked in my bio!)

🪚 DIY Nursing Cart: Part 1! 🍼✨

Today I built the perfect little rolling station for the newborn days. I know how short the baby days actually are, and I wanted something that will work as a nursing cart but I’ll still want to keep around for many years to come!

Tomorrow we’ll stain it, add the finishing touches, and start filling it up with all the postpartum + baby essentials 💕

Follow along to see how it turns out!

My 6 year old loves making easy recipes out of this book!

Alright… healthy is a stretch here. But with a few simple swaps and additions that my kids barely notice I feel much better about mac and cheese for dinner!

Start with your favorite mac and cheese recipe, or grab some premade from the store. I don’t judge! Work smarter, not harder. I very loosely used the mac and cheese recipe from @thekitchn.

🍝 Next, swap out your pasta for a higher protein option. I think the best one is @barilla Protein+, but we use whatever we have! Skip this if you buy premade.

🍗 Now grab whatever leftover protein you have in your fridge. Tonight we used leftover pulled pork, but I’ve used sausage, cut up chicken, chickpeas, whatever! Stir it in with the cheese sauce.

🥦 Lastly, grab a bag of frozen riced cauliflower and add it in to the cheese sauce and protein right before the pasta. I swear no one will taste it and it doesn’t add any color that may be offensive to children! It will thaw as you stir in your pasta and mix everything together. This last step brings the meal over the edge from a side dish to a whole meal complete with a veggie.

Try this out next time your family’s craving mac and cheese but you want to put something a little healthier on your plate!

Have you ever used a laser level to hang a gallery wall?? Such a game changer! Instead of relying on my subpar tape measure skills and putting some (ok, many) extra holes in the wall, a laser level helps me put up my frames quickly and accurately once I get a middle measurement. Can’t recommend enough! Now we just need some updated pictures. The most recent on in there is 3 years old 😅

Ditch the frozen pizza for good and start doing make your own pizza night! All you need is a pizza peel, pizza stone and a few easy groceries. As a bonus, my kids usually actually eat it since they’re so proud of their creations!

Part 3 of our scary basement → cozy family room transformation!

Since last time we checked in we:
🖌️ Painted the walls
🪜 Installed ceiling tiles
🌀 Set up a Calm Buddy sensory swing (kid-approved distraction while we work 🙌)
⚒️ Leveled the floors with self-leveling concrete to have an even surface for our LVP flooring
❄️ Added a mini split for year-round comfort

It’s finally starting to feel like a livable space instead of a haunted one!

Raise your hand if you’ve been personally victimized by peel and stick wallpaper 🙋‍♀️

I tried out three new products to apply the peel and stick wallpaper in our bathroom, and I’m happy to report they were GAME CHANGERS!

EZ Hang Spray- if I was going to pick one, this would be it. This allows the wallpaper float and slide on the wall to allow you to match up your pattern perfectly. No more sticking and unsticking over and over!

Wallpaper tools- I’m embarrassed to report that I have been using my credit card and/or a clipboard to smooth out all of my peel and stick projects over the past several years. It was time for an upgrade. I loved using the felt side of the blue smoother to get out all those tiny bubbles without damaging the paper!

Seam roller- this little roller flattens your seams down to prevent peeling up (super important in a full bathroom!) and minimize the look of the seams. Bonus- my kids think it’s extremely fun to play with.

When we moved into our house our mudroom was carpeted… and green. I knew it had to go! We were on a tight timeline and budget so I took a risk on these peel and stick tiles (no grout?! $2/sqft?! No drying time?! Sign me up.) and I am in love!

18 months later they are holding up beautifully, and trust me they have been put to the test. Two kids + two large dogs + mud/snow/water is not for the weak! Technically they are not supposed to be used in a not climate controlled room but I did it anyways and haven’t had issues.

If you’re looking for a very beginner friendly and affordable DIY to start planning this weekend, give this one a try!

Anyone else hitting a summer slump??

This week I’m going to the expert to make the ultimate lazy girl meal plan for my family’s dinners. I’m using exclusively meals from the 15-ish minute chapter of What To Cook When You Don’t Feel Like Cooking by Caroline Chambers!

Every meal I’ve made out of this book has been easy, delicious and best of all a complete meal (no sides necessary!).

#LTKHome
During a busy week you can’t beat shredded chicken as a meal prep super star. It’s so versatile, affordable and easy to cook!

If you live in fear of overcooked chicken breast a sous vide is the answer. You literally cannot overcook it since it never gets hotter than the temp you set! If you’re a busy mom who gets distracted (🙋‍♀️) this is your friend. I set it in the morning and then come back to take it out after a couple hours.

I recently leveled up my sous vide game with a Syntus Vacuum Sealer for Food with 30 Reusable Vacuum Bags. It’s so easy to use and stops automatically when it’s done to take out any guesswork. It works with any valve bag and makes a perfect seal to keep out all the water. Muchhh better than my previous system of a ziploc, a straw and closing it super fast 😂

The options are endless for using shredded chicken (chicken pot pie, chicken soup, chicken and rice casserole…), here are four ideas to get you started!

Homemade tzatziki chicken salad- I paired my favorite tzatziki recipe with shredded chicken to make a healthier, higher protein chicken salad for snacks and lunches

Pulled chicken sandwiches- add bbq sauce, coleslaw and a pack of hamburger buns and dinner is done!

Chicken Caesar wraps- caesar salad wraps are the talk of the town right now and couldn’t be easier after you prep your chicken. Add a bagged Caesar, some wraps and an easy side and you have a crowd pleaser on the table in less than 5 mins.

5 ingredient Creamy chicken enchiladas- mix chicken with a jar of salsa and a handful of cheese for the filling. Mix another jar of salsa with sour cream to make the sauce. Cover the bottom of a 9x13 with half of the sauce. Roll the filling in burrito sized tortillas and place in the pan. Top with the rest of the sauce and a layer of cheese and bake at 400 until bubbly and the cheese is melted.

Didn’t feel like cooking tonight but had wayyy too many tomatoes in the fridge that would go bad if I skipped for takeout. This summer pasta is so easy and can be ready in the time it takes to boil water since the pasta cooks in one minute. Literally. Add in some frozen meatballs or sausage if you need a protein to make a meal!

EASY CHICKEN RAMEN

Save this for your next busy weeknight! I love to make ramen to use up things in the fridge and pantry and it’s such a hit with my kids. Foods with toppings are fun! Add in whatever you have or your family loves.

I tried out Cook Stix coconut ginger chicken stock this time and LOVED it. As someone with a small pantry, I love how compact these are compared to a carton of stock, and the flavors are delicious. As a bonus I don’t have leftover chicken stock sitting in my fridge today! I can just use what I need and the rest stays shelf stable. Go to the link in my bio to try these out for yourself!

“Recipe”: I use what I have and don’t measure… that’s the beauty of this meal!

1. Heat oil in a stockpot and add aromatics (garlic, ginger, shallots, curry paste, spices etc). I added garlic, ginger and red curry paste. I also added peanut butter for a peanut ramen broth! Sauté until fragrant.

2. Add liquids (stock/broth, coconut milk etc) and bring to a boil. I used coconut ginger chicken stock and highly recommend!

3. Add veggies (use frozen chopped veggies for extra fast/easy meal) and noodles. If you plan on having leftovers you may want to cook noodles separately so they don’t get soggy. Cook according to package instructions.

4. Add toppings (protein, boiled egg, nori sheets, scallions, sriracha, shredded carrots…anything you want!). We were low on ingredients so did chicken and a seaweed snack pack.

Follow for more easy family meals and if you make this let me know how it comes out!
