This summer marks fourteen years since we said “I do”! Long-time readers might remember that my mom and I, with incredible help from friends and family, crafted dozens of DIY projects for our backyard wedding back in 2013. We made everything from book paper wreaths to doily cones filled with popcorn and nuts for guests to enjoy before the ceremony. Those early tutorials are still hiding somewhere in my blog archives, complete with questionable photography! If you haven’t guessed already, it was the epitome of shabby chic, the signature style of early 2010s weddings. My mom went all out on the decor, we spent weekends antiquing together, and my dad devoted countless hours to perfecting the yard. Though my style has evolved far beyond shabby chic over the years (although it’s inching its way back into my heart and our home), I’ve held onto my love for glass jars. I have a sizable collection tucked away in various cabinets and containers around the house. At our wedding reception, we filled the jars with sand and topped them with real candles. This time, I opted for battery-operated tea lights paired with fresh flowers instead. Which do you prefer? Glass jars with candles, flowers, or both?
