I meannnn it’s Kennedy Ryan. What more can I say? She delivered per usual. Part 3 of the Skyland series did not disappoint. Our girl Hendrix found love and now they’re all boo’d up! I love that for them. I feel like I can’t say much about this book without spoiling it so if you haven’t read it, do that ASAP. I’m not really a “read a book again” type of lady, but IDK, I think I’m going to try reading the first book again. To solidly my opinion that “Before I Let Go” was the best book in the series.

Sankofa means “go back and get it”. That’s exactly what Anna did with her identity. Shes mixed and grew up only knowing one side of her family. After a death she got a chance to learn about the other side and that helped her fall more in love with herself. This good was a good portrayal of the phrase “if you don’t know where you’re from, you won’t know where you’re going”.

It took me a few reads to really get into this one but after a few chapters I was hooked. This book was a blind buy from a book warehouse I discovered here in Houston. I prefer hardcovers but they can get pricey quick lol😅 So here’s a hack: Check if there’s a book warehouse near you!

First time reading a book by Abby Jimenez and it was really good! I’m planning to read another one just off her cute covers alone lol But this book was a great reminder that sometimes we get in our own way. While trying to control everything we can sabotage our happiness. Also idk who needs to hear this but if you’re someone that find it hard to accept help when you need it and someone is happily offering it…cut it out lol Overall great read👍🏾

What can I say? Kennedy Ryan never misses. So of course it’s a 10/10. I will add trigger warning sexual abuse🚨 But a beautiful love story and happy ending per usual. I didn’t expect anything less.

I read a book about leprosy y’all😂😂 Ok it was about more than that but I really just bought this book based off the cover. I don’t usually like books set in a different time period but Wendy did her thing with this one. Her writing style made it easy to be there and present with each character. My favorite thing about the book was how she shed light on unusual family dynamics and made love triangles make sense? Well not make sense but like I was able to get every character’s POV and see where they were coming from. Overall great book, unique story line and good ending. I didn’t want it to end. I wanted to stay with the characters a little more. That’s how you know it’s a good book. When you feel a void IRL after leaving the make believe world.

Toni initially pissed me off so bad but later on I understood her. It’s easier to play small and stay out the way but the price you pay for that is silencing your dreams and not enjoying the things you really way. So yea pick your hard as they say. Interesting spin on a romance novel. I enjoyed it. You could tell the author was also a musician by her detailed description of the music industry inside and out. It was a bigger book than I usually read but I couldn’t put this down and finished it in about a week. Glad I gave this author a chance. I’m interested to read more books by her🌟

Hmmm! Is my first thought I’d like to share about this book. Ok, theatrics aside this was a crazy story. Like how did Adebayo come up with this? My gut tells me it’s loosely based on someone’s true story. Idk who but God bless them. If you take anything away from this book (like I always try to do) Marriage requires serious communication and 100% vulnerability. Pride and secrets will turn you every way but loose. By the time they’re done with you, you won’t recognize yourself or your marriage. Also, fear men because wow! Great read for sure. Married or not this was a great story about love, trials and forgiveness. I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend!

Falling in love with the man that put your ex-husband in prison? Messyyy☕️ but you’ll find yourself rooting for this relationship. You have to read it to understand it. If you read “Before I Let Go” by @kennedyryan1 this book is the 2nd book in her Skyland series✨ Definitely a good read following Soledad and her journey through self-partnering to find herself and learn how to love herself❤️

I fell in love with the sisterhood Yvette, Joy, Diane, and Rochelle built. It was so selfless and genuine. I love that for them! I lost my best friend about 8 years ago and it’s loss you never get over, so I definitely could relate to certain emotions in the book. It’s hard moving on with the loss of a friend in a friend group. But they not only moved on but got closer🥹 I don’t have deep thoughts about this book but overall I enjoyed it and being a part of that world. Even if it was only for a week lol

Not gonna lie, I only wanted to read this book because of the ridiculous title lol BUT I was pleasantly surprised! The ending felt kinda rushed to me (personally). Or maybe that’s just a result of the characters and their stories being told so well I didn’t want it to end. IDK. But what I do know, is that I’ll be getting her other book “Nearly All the Men in Lagos are Mad”. It also made me want to visit Lagos. I’ve always preferred Abuja because all I think of Lagos is noise and traffic but in this book, Lagos had more to offer so we’ll see✈️

I never posted this book but it was a random kindle read. I chose it because I really liked the cover (lol) and also the story. It touched on large families, cousins and the effects of children during a divorce…all topics I can relate with. So I gave it a try and boy am I glad I did! This was my first book I’ve read from this author but I’ll definitely read another book by her again. 5/5⭐️ I know sometimes people are really critical with their book reviews but I’m a creative myself so I look at things a lot different. Turning a blank page into words that tell a story and create an imaginary world with complex characters? No easy feat. This book made me laugh, cryyyy, roll my eyes. Loved it.

Is there a support group for people recovering from being a part of a fictional world? I feel like I need to follow Pumkin on IG to see what’s next for her lol This book made me feel every emotion. Pumkin made me so proud. She was so self aware. With all that she was dealt Pumkin showed resilience and found her way in a not so perfect world. In doing so she attracted the right people to her. People who loved her for who she was and rallied around her in moments when she was too weak to ask for help. They did that out of love. Man! Absolutely loved this book. It also made me want to visit Jamaica real bad😂

Without spoiling it, I feel like they were lovable characters that had the resources and opportunity to make better decisions but they kinda self sabotaged the entire way. Making decisions that made didn’t help them or anyone around them. I cringed a lot and just didn’t enjoy watching their lives unfold? Also one of the main characters being Nigerian, I wanted to root for my sister buuut I couldn’t jive with her unfortunately. Idk, for their age I just expected more I guess. I read this book first because I heard good things about the 2nd book, but I think I’m going to pass.

Anyway great read! Jessica George used Maame to show the danger of being a people pleaser and it can rob you of a life you actually love. The importance of intentional friendship and not friendship fostered by being in close proximity to people (school, work, etc.) There was so much more like romance, racism, moving out, grief, depression, happiness…the list goes on. I couldn’t put this book down. It was like watching a show you didn’t want to end. Go get it!
