I used to think more supplements meant better health. Turns out, real food does more with less. There are times when supplements are good to take, especially if there is a deficiency, so please talk to your doctor and have blood work done regularly, so that you know where you’re at. Like right now in my own life, I am taking vitamin D to up my levels per my doctor’s recommendation, and I’m also taking a magnesium supplement to help me through a stressful season. There are definitely times for supplements, so this is not a post declaring that supplements are bad. However, the vast majority of people overuse supplements, and think that it’s the easy way out, but honestly food is our best medicine. It’s much more cost-effective for our size family to use food as medicine instead of supplements.
