The Size & Positioning of Your Furniture can make or break the appearance of a room! 🛋️ 3 TIPS to Make Your Living Room Look Professionally Decorated (to impress your guests this Thanksgiving ) 💁🏼♀️: 1️⃣: Position seating in a balanced format facing inward so that people are able to easily converse. • EX: If I didn’t have those two brown accent chairs, my large white sectional sofa would look off. The chairs balance it out AND complete the ‘conversation circle’. 2️⃣: Add an area rug to define the space (& ensure it’s the right size!) Choosing an area rug that’s too small can ruin a room! • EX: My sectional is an even square shape (126”x126”), and my area rug is a large rectangular shape. This only works because of the two accent chairs filling the extra rug space. Otherwise the rug would be too long for the sofa and it’d look really odd! 3️⃣: Make sure your Area Rug isn’t floating in the middle of the room - ideally the furniture should be touching it. Area Rugs are intended to pull the room together! Not cause it to look piece-y & separate! ➡️ Rule of Thumb: At least the front legs of all sofas/chairs should be set ON the rug. • EX: My sectional is too large to have all legs on top of the rug, therefore it’s positioned so all of the front legs touch the rug. And since only the front legs of the sectional are on the rug, you would NOT place the entirety of both accent chairs on it! Instead, you’d follow suit and just set the front legs of the accent chair on top of the area rug. 🫶🏻🫶🏻 DOUBLE TAP if you found these tips helpful!! 💁🏼♀️ SHARE this post with a friend! . .
