Recipe:
Choose your stencil. (This is the fun part.)
Choose your colours or one colour.
(Looks good with one colour also.)

My colours:
BM Pale Oak - Background
BM Alligator Alley
BM Shakespeare Tan
BM Mountain Lake

I used foam brushes with a light hand and went in very lightly, missing some areas of the stencil intentionally. I wanted a worn and textured feel.
There was some paint bleeding and I had to go back with the Pale Oak to touch it up in the end.
But found I liked the imperfections.

I bought my colours in tester sizes. It was more than enough to do one wall. But you can use paints/colours that you've used previously in your home. This gives your paint colours a whole new dimension and the colour/s will look different.
One wall, took me one day.
(This is a really big bang for your buck!)

A palette with muted blues and a few warm greys. What makes this palette work with this really strong red floor is the blues have a slight undertone of green. The greys are a warm grey which merges with the warmth of the red. Red and green are opposite on the colour wheel, they will always compliment each other. If you have a strong colour that has to stay, don't fight it, work with it. I've added this rug with both reds and blue/green to the palette. It ties is all together!

There is nothing prettier than a South facing room. There is nothing hotter either!
Adding warm tones will increase the temperature, I mean... warm tones will look warmer or more yellow. If you must use a yellow, do intentionally with gusto, like a sunflower yellow or toasted yellow.
However, if you're looking for a cream, I would advise to stay away- for it will reflect buttery and hot.
Instead, look for a linen or a warm grey, these will still look warm in the space but cool everything down.
Really, South facing rooms are forgiving, any colour will look good but remember the colour will also be on a loud speaker.
Choose colours that are subtle. Look for the undertone because it will bare it's true colours...no pun.
