POV: my mom suffers from Amazon trigger finger and Prime Day just gave her better aim 😆
She surprised me with the Shady Lady 6ft faux black olive tree I've had saved (and recommended) for months — proof that mom is always right.
After unboxing it, I can say it actually looks exactly like the pictures... which is awesome because the price + look were why I recommended it to begin with. Realistic trunk, full, bright leaves on manicured branches you can fluff, and it instantly filled my corner with life and greenery. It's the tall artificial olive tree every home needs right now-coming in various heights.
I'm NOT keeping the black base it comes with though — stay tuned because I'm upcycling a Walmart planter to make it look high-end. Follow along for part 2!

I built DIY sliding tile doors to hide our laundry hookups, and somehow the least qualified woodworking woman in the room survived to tell the tale.

The goal: hide the wall hookups but make them easily accessible (because parents don’t need to add a step to the laundry routine).

The solution: a lightweight sliding door unit made with ceiling tiles, Morcart peel-and-stick tile, sliding tracks, and a level of confidence that was not fully earned.

It’s not the shortest tutorial I’ve ever made, but it might be the most useful if your front loaders came with hookups that were placed directly in your line of sight like a decorative feature nobody asked for.

This playroom has been re-invented a couple of times as the kids have grown older. Now it’s just a matter of storage keeping up with their ever-growing toys/interests! I’ve banished the orange! If you only knew the time I spent evaluating the finish BEFORE I ordered the first top…but I learned the hard way.
Apart from the finish, I LOVE having this worktop on top of my washer/dryer. It’s a great way to reclaim space, add a contrasting finish to warm the space and be assured you aren’t going to lose socks in between your units.

SpaceAid’s top came well-packaged, with plenty of screws and one tool to set it up. It’s lightweight enough to carry up the stairs and set in place.

It’s definitely an addition worth having in your laundry space! And if you’re a fan of the maple wood tone, they have that too. 🩶

When you’re redesigning all of the rooms in your house at once, you learn a lot! 😆

I found a bed with a headboard over 5 feet tall, a console design previously unavailable for a small wall, and a non-standard size area rug—all these little nuggets add up!

Because sometimes the “good find” isn’t the cheapest option — it’s the one with the right height, the right width, the right function, or the exact detail you’ve been looking for for your home.

I went through my Prime Day finds with my designer “hat” on and pulled together the pieces that solve oddly specific problems I keep running into while updating my own house… plus a few personal favorites I genuinely think are worth watching.

This bathroom makeover was mostly cosmetic, but the cabinet paint made one of the biggest differences.

I used Sherwin-Williams enamel paint on the vanity and chose the matte finish, but if I were doing it again, I’d choose satin. The matte looks pretty, but it feels a little rough to the touch, and I think satin would give a shinier, more durable finish for a bathroom cabinet.

My other cabinet painting tip: use a roller only. No paint brushes. The roller gave me a much smoother finish and helped avoid visible brush marks.

I’ve always loved wall sconces but hiring an electrician was not in the cards. So I absolutely love that I can get rechargeable LED lights for my wall from Amazon. These in particular are peel n stick (although I recommend screwing them in as I found the adhesive was not a permanent solution).
I love how they balanced out the mirror on my wall and that I can install all by myself.

You can buy these sconces that come with their own bulbs or choose any hardwired sconce, cut the wires and use an LED rechargeable bulb (linked below).

Not artistic? No problem. You don’t need to be to make this art! I used a shadow box, wrapped it in linen fabric, then spray-painted some fabric stems gold. After they dried, I pinned them onto the board and secured the back.
You don’t even need to be crafty to pull this one together. But the end result was pretty satisfying.

A more grown-up take on my son’s mountain mural bedroom 🏔️
