Hand painted vs spray finished changes everything. Nothing compares to the softness of a brushstroke, the variation, the way it catches the light. It is something a factory finish simply cannot replicate. But beyond the beauty, it’s also about the integrity of the finish, layered by hand for a result that is not only refined, but incredibly durable.

In our kitchen, we used @FarrowandBall Shadow White on the cabinetry, Slipper Satin on the walls and ceiling, with Ball Green inside the glass cabinets for a quiet contrast. One of the greatest lessons Florence has given us is that beauty lives in centuries of artistry, architecture and handmade pasta. There, even the simplest ingredients can stir something profound. It was at this intersection of design and cuisine that we gathered for our second @cucinacipoletti A Tavola dinner, hosted inside the New York showroom of @kathykuohome in celebration of her newly launched Florentine Collection. A curation layered in old world romance, antiques, candlelight, and warmth, transformed into the perfect setting to honor everything Italian that inspires us.

The evening tasted of Tuscany in every way. Cucina Cipoletti pastas made from wheat grown in Val d’Orcia, just beyond Florence, arrived first, warm bowls passed hand to hand. The scent of grilled bistecca all Fiorentina filled the room served simply, garnished with our Sicilian Sea Salt, as it has been for generations. Between olive oil martinis and lingering wine pours, Manhattan felt like Florence for a few fleeting hours.

What stayed with us most was the energy in the room. Friends, new faces, thoughtful design, honest conversation, and a table that felt alive. This is the spirit of A Tavola and we are so gratefully to the @kathykuohome team for sharing in our love of layered interiors, soulful details, and homes that feels deeply lived in. 📸 @yumimatsuostudio

And suddenly, life takes on an entirely new meaning....

Last week, I texted a friend, I don’t know how I’ve lived so much life. I don’t feel old, but forty years is a long time on this earth. And that is honestly exactly how it feels.

So many people reach forty and panic. But the truth is, I do not feel my age, and I refuse to let a number define how I move through the world and that feels important to say out loud. Maybe that makes me delusional. Maybe some people feel older than they are. Maybe others feel younger. All I know is this, I am here, I am present, and I am deeply aware of how fortunate I am.

Sure, I look in the mirror and notice gravity has made herself a little more comfortable than she was five years ago. I see it. I feel it. But I also know I will never be younger than I am right now, and that alone feels like a reason to celebrate. Especially because this past year and a half has felt like a turning point. A stride. A season where things began to click in a way they never fully had before.

My thirties were about navigating. About unraveling. About doing the hard work, personally and quietly, and learning through the mess of it all. And now, on the other side of that, I feel clearer. More rooted. More myself. I am finding my voice, and trusting it.

So here we are. Forty. Not an ending, but an arrival. The era of thriving. If thirty was the becoming, forty is the living and I am so ready.
