Look 4 (pt 3) VayCayman 2025 - Trip Recap 🌴 The first time I set foot on Grand Cayman was in the mid-90s on a family vacation - my very first big trip out of the country, and the first time we ever did a classic “family getaway.” We stayed at the Holiday Inn, one of only a few properties along Seven Mile Beach at the time. That hotel is long gone, but interestingly, the Ritz now sits on the very same stretch of sand. It’s a good stretch of beach - one that’s escaped the severe erosion affecting other areas over the past 20 years. On the first day of that very first trip, I waded into the water with my parents… and a massive sea turtle swam by almost instantly. To little me, it was huge - about the same as my wingspan at the time - and it was gliding right there in just three feet of water. It remains the coolest introduction I’ve ever had to any place. If you’re here, I highly recommend getting in the water around the Ritz - you can still see amazing things without swimming far. And while you’re on land, the Ritz is also worth exploring.
