Dad is usually the last person we think about when planning family photo outfits. Mom’s dress gets picked first, the kids get coordinated, and dad kind of fills in the gap at the end. But his color matters more than you’d think. He’s often the one holding a little one, so he becomes the backdrop for their outfit. And he’s standing right next to mom, so his color either complements her dress or quietly competes with it. That’s a lot of the frame to leave up to whatever’s clean in the closet. The easiest fix is rich earth tones — think mocha, olive, chocolate. They add depth without pulling focus, they photograph beautifully in any season, and they sit nicely next to a neutral dress or a soft floral instead of fighting it.
