Even with a few extra minutes of sleep (antibiotics don’t always make for the best night’s rest), the day started early in my new Halloween pajamas before heading off to school. I had planned to do classroom observations—my favorite thing—but instead, shipments arrived. Field Day is around the corner, so that meant unpacking crates, lifting boxes, and turning my office into a delivery zone. It felt like a workout, and I was glad for my ponytail! After school, I changed into my new Target skirt and tank for a treadmill walk, waiting for my husband so we could cook dinner together. It was one of those days that was busy but so good—full of little things that remind me of how meaningful both my work and home life are. The hardest part? Missing my boys. It’s been two weeks, and this momma heart is counting down the days until I can hug them again, share donuts, laugh until our stomachs hurt, and just soak in family time. That’s all I really wanted for our anniversary—to be together. Praise God, it’s happening soon. For my fellow empty nesters: This season may look different, but it’s not empty—it’s full of prayers, memories, and new chapters still unfolding. Every reunion is a reminder that our families grow in love, no matter the distance.
