It was supposed to be a reset day, but instead we went to our friends house for a long overdue playdate. 🎉

This is the part of my Balanced Homemaking System that actually mattes most. The schedule is there to serve me, not the other way around. If it doesn’t work this week, I just shift it. The reset can wait till tomorrow or next week, either way, the house won’t completely fall apart.

I’ve found that often times I am just procrastinating more than anything and it really doesn’t take that long to make our house feel tidy and ready for the weekend.👏🏼

I love having a home that feels tidy and clean, but I'm just not willing to spend hours cleaning every day.

These days, I focus more on keeping our home picked up than perfectly clean. I tidy the kitchen, do a quick closing shift before bed, and try to put things back where they belong throughout the day.

When it comes to deep cleaning, well that's honestly my least favorite part. 😂

That's why I created my 3-week zone cleaning system.

Instead of feeling like I need to clean my entire house every week, I focus on one area at a time. This week it's the kitchen, dining, and living room zone. Every space gets a good deep clean every three weeks, and because I'm staying on top of the everyday mess, it never feels like I'm starting from scratch.

For me, this isn't really about having a perfectly clean house every day. It's about making homemaking feel less overwhelming. And we all know us moms need to eliminate the mental load wherever we can. 🫣

And that’s okay.

I love waking up to a tidy house. I feels like it just gives us a clean slate for the new day ahead.

But, every once in a while I just break my own rule and I skip it.

I talk a lot about systems and routines because they genuinely help me feel less overwhelmed. But the whole point of having a system is that it can bend when you need it to. It’s not supposed to be another thing you feel guilty about.

A simple morning routine 🤍

I don't usually do a big Friday reset, but this week my house was asking for one. 😅

One thing I've learned about myself is that I enjoy my weekends so much more when I spend a little time getting the house back in order beforehand.

Typically I just focus on cleaning up clutter and sweeping the floors on Friday’s, but today there were a few extra things that needed my attention.

It doesn't have to be perfect. I just like waking up on Saturday feeling like I can actually slow down instead of thinking about everything that still needs to get done.

That's one of the reasons I love my Monday and Friday resets. They create just enough margin that I can enjoy the weekend without my house constantly calling my name.

I’ve been a protein girly for years, and I’ve finally perfected this recipe to my liking. 😌

Some days lunch just doesn’t happen, and this coffee has genuinely saved me on those days. It keeps me full, it’s iced (my favorite), and by switching up the creamer and protein powder flavors, I never get tired of drinking the same thing every day.

My Monday resets have become my favorite thing because they truly help the rest of the week feel easier. 🎉

Here’s what I do:
•do the laundry
•sweep & mop floors
•tidy up any clutter from the weekend
•water my plants
•a mini bathroom clean

Sharing this smoothie recipe again because it’s that good. 🤗

• 13 oz plain greek yogurt
• 9 oz vanilla greek yogurt
• .75 oz honey
• 20 oz crushed strawberries

I pour the smoothies into glass jars and they have last in the fridge for up to a week and a half. 🙌🏼

The best thing my cleaning schedule gave me wasn’t a cleaner house. It was freedom. 🤗

Before I had a simple rhythm, I was constantly trying to remember what needed cleaned, what I was behind on, and what to do next. Now my schedule makes those decisions for me, and the surprising part is it actually gives me MORE flexibility, not less.

Because I stay on top of things most weeks, I don’t feel guilty skipping a task when life gets busy. My house doesn’t fall apart, because the system works with real life, not against it.

Here’s the rhythm I follow: 🙌🏼
✨ Monday: Monday reset — mini bathroom clean, floors, laundry, meal planning(sometimes), tidy up from the weekend
✨ Tuesday: wash bedding & deep clean one zone
✨ Wednesday: grocery shopping & do budget/pay bills
✨ Thursday: laundry
✨ Friday: quick floor reset & tidy

Simple, flexible, and built to make homemaking feel less overwhelming.

The perks of being a stay-at-home-mom, is that no day looks exactly like the last.

But, if you struggle with constant change, this can also be your biggest challenge.🫣

If you have children in school, you know summers can throw you for a loop because suddenly your routine is different. And for us routine girly’s, this change can be a challenge. 😏

I have found that keeping a morning routine for myself, has really helped me keep my sanity.

It’s not an extensive routine, but just enough to help me feel like I am ready for the day whether I do it at 6 or 8 AM.

In order to be a good and present mom, I also need to take care of myself and this routine has really helped with that.

I don’t love cleaning. I love how it feels when the house is under control. 🤍

For me, the hard part was never actually cleaning, it was keeping track of what needed to be done, when, and how often. That mental load is exhausting.

That’s why I built my Balanced Homemaking System. It has specific tasks on specific days/weeks, so nothing falls through the cracks. If the bathroom’s a little dirty on Friday, I know it’s getting cleaned Monday. It can wait.

I’ve talked a lot about my morning routine — waking up early, moving my body, having that quiet time before the kids are up.

But here’s the truth: I don’t do it every single day. 😅

This summer especially, I’ve been letting myself sleep in more and enjoy slow mornings.

Some days I still do my early routine. Other days I wake up later and do a version of it anyway, just shifted back.

I think it’s easy to feel like you’re “failing” if you’re not doing your routine perfectly every day. But a routine that bends when life needs it to isn’t a broken routine — it’s a realistic one.

What’s your go-to easy to prep foods you like to keep on hand?

For me it’s been these smoothies all summer. They are sooo delicious (like the Chobani smoothies!) and take literally 5 minutes to make.

I got the recipe from @kaylynrathel, but have refined it to my liking. 😍

Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie:
• 13 oz Plain Greek Yogurt
• 9 oz Vanilla Greek Yogurt
• .75 oz Honey
• 20 oz Crushed Strawberries

I have had crushed strawberries in the freezer that desperately needed used, and this has been perfect for that. I have tried using peaches, but haven’t found the right ratios yet. Once my strawberries are all gone, I am going to experiment a bit more. 🤗

Several years ago I discovered that I wasn’t eating nearly enough protein each day, so I started finding simple ways to add protein to my diet.🙌🏼
