I found 30 modern summer outfits on Pinterest that I know I can recreate with pieces I already own, so I’m recreating every single one.

If you never know what to wear in summer, follow this series. By the end, you’ll have 30 easy outfit formulas you can recreate from your own closet.

Outfit Formula #1 is built around a white midi skirt (cotton, poplin, or satin) paired with a fitted sleeveless waistcoat. It’s a simple combination that looks polished with very little effort.

Don’t have a white skirt? Swap it for white or cream wide-leg pants.

Prefer to cover your arms? Add a lightweight scarf or layer. I have a couple of scarf styling tutorials on my page.

The real idea behind this outfit isn’t the exact pieces—it’s the formula: a light bottom, a darker top, and a defined waist. Whether you choose a peplum blouse, a fitted jacket, an A-line skirt, or wide-leg pants, the same principles create a flattering silhouette.

Every one should have a white linen pants and black tee in their closet, as well as a nice silk scarf (can be any color for accent).

Flip-flops made of real or faux leather are the trendy shoes for the summer.

This outfit looks dated and boring, and cuts the body in most unflattering places- hips, calves and ankles - making us look shorter and bigger.

To fix this, switch to the pieces that leave some air between your skin and clothing. The wide leg full length jeans with high or medium waist make legs looks longer and body slimmer. The oversized linen shirt tucked into the pants as a faux wrap, makes the body hourglass shape, emphasizing the waist. Lightweight sandals further elongate legs.

What is wrong with the look on the left?
1. Wrong proportions - the tee and the skirt hem cut the body in wide unflattering places.
2. Outdated pieces - bag and sneakers scream old.

I am fixing the look by switching the skirt to more flattering and current one, changing the bag and the footwear lightening the look.

You can keep the tee but tuck it or half tuck it to highlight the waist.
Another change i made is wearing mild compression underwear to tone the body further.
