My 1865 Victorian Dining Room Makeover is almost complete, and all that’s left is accessories! I’ve been eyeing some burl wood boxes to hold coasters and napkins but couldn’t justify the price tag, so today I DIYed them instead! 💪 I picked up some contact paper and craft boxes and got to work wrapping the boxes, and in just a few hours, I had a VERY convincing dupe! My downstairs bathroom in my 1865 Victorian was stuck in a full-blown identity crisis—traditional, farmhouse, midcentury, and Spanish revival styles were all crammed into this one tiny space. While I’d love to do a full renovation of this bathroom at some point, for now, any changes I make will have to be quick and easy. But with one quick swap - a new vanity wall sconce- I instantly streamlined the design!

Not only did it help create a more cohesive look, but this sconce made the install so easy: It comes with three lighting temperature options and even includes a carabiner clip that holds the light in place while you wire it!

I finished off the new look with a little bit of countertop styling, and this bathroom no longer feels so chaotic! Perhaps I can put off a renovation in here for even longer… 🤔🤔🤔

Fireplace Reveal The fireplace in my 1865 Victorian living room was a retrofit from the 1960s that was crumbling under our feet. The subfloor was cracked, the chimney column was damaged, the tiles were disintegrating, and the mantel was missing quite a few parts. Time for a DIY fireplace makeover!

Over the past few weeks, I demoed the old fireplace, fixed the subfloor, retiled the hearth (this was a JOURNEY…iykyk), and customized a new mantel to much better fit my living room vibes!

This DIY project turned out to be a favorite of mine, and I still have a hard time believing that I did it all myself!

Eventually, we’ll have a contractor run wiring for a new electric insert, but for now, I’m tickled with how she turned out!

My guest suite is one space that has barely been touched since we’ve moved in but we have guests arriving soon, so this space is getting an upgrade with my new Henley rug from @joannagaines latest collection with @loloirugs

It’s the plushiest rug I’ve ever stepped on (Tuna agrees with me!) and my guests are sure to love it! I finished off the space with a few Jett accent pillows from the same collab. Now this space is all ready to welcome our friends!

My living room built ins pack a big punch, and we’re surprisingly easy to build - with the right tools, of course!

Here are the MVPs in my tool kit for making the built ins come to life!

My 1865 Victorian dining room makeover wouldn’t be complete without a few finishing touches: the accessories!

I chose to keep the decor quite minimal in for this space, because the wallpaper, chandelier and chairs are so bold. But I was still able to have some fun with a dramatic uplight, some candlesticks I painted a fun blue color, and an unexpected food-as-decor moment with a few artichokes!

Here are all the goodies I found to finish out this space and get it ready for the final reveal (that’ll be coming tomorrow)!

Adding a faux leaded glass window film to my dining room window was such an easy DIY, added so much character and improved the view, all in under an hour!
