Good Morning ☀️

How cute is Luna’s tableware 🥹💓 It’s a set that has a fork, spoon, plate, bowl and cup. Everything fits in the groves too !

During meal times we always try preferred and non preferred foods together - black berries and yogurt are preferred, pancakes and other breads are not a preferred food. Normally we have to limit her choices to two, but today we’re throwing in a third !

We have been using this method since she was a baby, especially during speech / feeding sessions and because she has a gtube.

Luna does really well with mirroring and prompts during feeding. As long as it doesn’t feel like “work” or a command she responds pretty well.

Even though she has a gtube and a history of some crappy oral motor skills 😂 She does really well now and at this point it’s more so her intake. She will probably eat 1 pancake, like 3 spoons of yogurt and probably 3 black berries. I give her gtube feeds AFTER oral feeds.

If you’re new here this is my oldest daughter, Charlie - She’s the real main character of the family, not Luna 😂

Today we’re making something simple but so special— @realduncanhines brownies. Charlie’s 8, and living with ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder). Food can sometimes feel overwhelming and up until this summer it has taken over her life. Making food together gives us a safe space to explore new textures, smells, and little wins in the kitchen.

It’s not really about the brownies—it’s about connection, confidence, and showing her that food can be joyful and shared. Watching her crack eggs, stir the batter, and smile through / get through the process reminds me that progress is made in these small, sweet moments.

For anyone walking through a similar journey with their child: celebrate the victories, no matter how small. Today, ours came in the form of gooey, chocolatey brownies and it was her own request !! 🤎

Fresh apple juice coming right up 🧃✨ Personally, I think nothing beats the crisp, tangy sweetness of honeycrisp apples, but gala apples did the job just as well today. The best part though? Having my little helper by my side. She climbs up on her step stool with so much pride, ready to chop, pour, and taste-test along the way.

It’s more than just making juice—it’s watching her tiny hands practice fine motor skills, hearing her count out loud, and seeing her curiosity light up the whole kitchen. Moments like these remind me that these everyday tasks are really little lessons and memories in the making ☺️
