Joshua Tree with kids is genuinely one of the best hiking days you can have — if you go in the right order. We did Hidden Valley first (the boulder scrambles are made for kids), then Skull Rock, Arch Rock, and ended at Cholla Cactus Garden on the drive back. My son was completely in his element. The desert in March is peak hiking season — warm but not punishing. This is what I'd pack for the trail: functional enough for the rocks, cute enough for the Instagram-worthy Joshua Tree landscape that you will absolutely stop to photograph every five minutes.
