Not true! While tretinoin is the gold standard for anti-aging, I can’t use it consistently ,my skin gets irritated and red every time.
I actually prefer lower concentrations of retinol or retinal. I can use them daily, and that consistency gives me the best results! 💫

My secret to maintaining a healthy skin barrier is… skin barrier creams/balms!

Here are my current top 3:
1. @LaRochePosayUS Cicaplast Baume
This is my all-time favorite skin barrier balm because it works amazingly! What I love is that it’s an OTC product that helps with all types of irritation. It has a thicker consistency, so I only use it at night.
2. @AveneUSA Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream
This cream has a thick texture that works really well for sensitive skin—even for babies! I love using it when I have eczema. It contains C-Restore and Copper-Zinc Sulfate Complex, which are incredibly soothing and restorative.
3. @rhode skin Barrier Butter
This is a new addition to their line, and I’m loving it! It contains hyaluronic acid, ceramides, polyglutamic acid, and Murumuru Butter. What I like about this product is how rich it feels while still applying smoothly like a moisturizer. It traps water, making it excellent for hydration. I use it both day and night for my dry skin without it feeling too heavy.

Speaking from my experience, using retinoids is one thing that has significantly changed my skin. I started being very mindful about what I used in my early 30s. Now, I suggest everyone in their late 20s and early 30s use a retinoid product that they can tolerate and use consistently. With retinoids, it’s not about how strong they are; it’s about how consistent you are with them.

I know tretinoin is the gold standard for wrinkles, fine lines, texture, and acne, but I can’t use it consistently because it’s irritating for my skin. I prefer retinal instead.

I’m loving the new @paulaschoice PRO Retinaldehyde Dual-Retinoid Treatment. It has retinaldehyde and adapalene. Retinaldehyde is the closest to retinoic acid, and it works faster and is more effective than retinol for me. It doesn’t irritate my skin like some retinols do. Adapalene is a form of retinoid with many studies backing it as one of the best ingredients for acne. The texture is creamy and works well with other products.
