I'm 5'7", and I cut about 3/4" from the hem of these Sienna jeans to show more ankle. Mango's jeans have really great cuts, and you can't beat the prices. The tradeoff is that you have to wash the jeans every other time you wear them so they snap back into shape. My Frame and Gap jeans keep the shape with more wears. I'm wearing the loafers from Dear Frances – they're luxury at half the price. Love.

Checklist for straight jeans inspired by CBK's 90s vintage Levis. Fitted hips, easy thigh, then straight or slightly flared to the bottom. These details make the difference between effortless and "hmm, I just don't reach for these jeans." I am wearing the Frame Cigarette in Ravenna, and I found similar options on sale. From Frame, the Vertical Crop has a higher waist and a shorter length. The slight flare is the same as mine, and it also comes in a full length. Gap's jeans have a higher waist. I found options for different lengths, waists, and washes.

Love Banana Republic's stretch satin. It's got a natural gleem, and it's more breathable and easier to care for than silk. Size down if you're between sizes. I'm wearing this dress in a size 2, and I'm usually size 2-4. I'm 5'7", and it's a maxi length on me (but not too long). Beautiful sheen in person, and the fabric has heft. Really easy to steam, too (no need to iron).

J.Crew upgraded its cashmere to Grade A – the finest, longest fibers for smoothness and softness. I love how this sweater feels and how it's designed. It has some surface fuzz, so I'm wear-testing it for pilling and will report back. Now the weather needs to cooperate. I'm wearing an S, my usual size. My two outfit ideas: 1) CONTRAST: soft, boxy sweater against slim cigarette jeans – Frame, TTS. I'm in a 26, and I'm 5'7". Worn with Dear Frances loafers, also TTS and super soft. 2) HARMONY: relaxed sweater echoed by easy pants, on sale at Banana Republic. White hem of Uniqlo tee for crisp definition. Le Slim Palazzo is a cut I've loved for years, and I have it in three washes. If you're 5'7" or 5'8", it's the perfect length for flats/loafers/sneakers. Classic wide leg, not a palazzo as named. The Essential is the slouch I didn't know I can just have. They make me look cool even though I'm a nerd. Perfect ease, and the waist + hips are still defined so they're not swallowing me. I'm wearing the silk blouse in a small. Love the (safely) low neck and scarf tie.

They remind me of CBK's 90s Levi's with their subtle flare + easy fit around the thighs. I always feel great in them. Quince fall report card: the $225 wool-cashmere coat, the $350 camel hair coat, and the sweaters that stay smoother, plus the one silk blouse with a flat armhole seam. Skip the $175 Italian wool coat, the $50 crewneck, the baby cashmere, and the lace. I do enjoy the cashmere crewneck cardigan even though it’s the $50 sweater’s cousin – I scrunch up the sleeves, and it overall looks dainty on purpose. I de-pill once a season with an old school razor. Don’t use a cashmere comb – it made my pilling worse. SWEATERS IN POST: 1. Unfuss your pearls the easy way – layer with a scarf. This look would be beautiful with beads or with chunky chains, too, because the jewelry itself is half showing. It's not that serious. My favorite linen button up is Banana Republic's for the fit and the crisp fabric. J.Crew's Baird McNutt Irish linen is softer and has a drapier flow, I also love that one. I'm wearing Gap jeans in a wash that's OOS, but their new washes are great, too. They look a lot like Khaite's Dane jeans ($580), and the measurements are almost identical. I'm in 2.5" heels, and I'm 5'7".

Banana Republic's cashmere is that quiet win that looks fresh, resists pilling, and gets priced fairly. I will say that my sweaters have gotten more fluffy, but they show surprisingly little pilling considering how much I've worn them. I'm starting here with fall's three most important silhouettes. The V-neck is coming back, which means more options for those of us who've been wondering where these went. The oversized, hip-length crewneck will still be going strong this season, but I wouldn't spend above these prices for it. The neck gets a lot of attention this fall, from funnel neck coats to turtlenecks. These will feel luxurious, and they'll layer over shirts nicely.

The BR x La Ligne collection just dropped with a mix of hits & misses. The tailored pieces are, unfortunately, made with too much polyester in the blend. Instead, the button ups are excellent. The collars have the shape and body I love from BR's shirting. The stripes are aligned and symmetric. The hidden button placket dresses them up, as does the double cuff that you can fold up. They're long enough to have the tails show when layered under generous sweaters or hip-length jackets. They'd be great over tight capris to give you coverage in the back. The bandanas have the wearable stripe patterns that make them easy to style – they go with denim blues and neutrals. The twill weave means they have body, which looks more expensive than comparably priced scarves at J.Crew.

I’m wearing size S in all, and I’m 5’7”. Aritzia passes on Finch and the funnel-neck Hemlock, not Davis; Sézane's Jonas and Clyde are single-breasted, so not true trenches but well made. Arnaud takes style cues from Saint Laurent – love.
