How to layer for winter miles without the bulk!

When the temperature drops, the key to a successful run is all in the layers. I’ve found the perfect "sandwich" for those chilly St. Augustine mornings: a moisture-wicking base layer topped with a funnel neck shirt for that extra neck protection (without the annoyance of a scarf!).

I’m pairing these with my absolute favorite PowerSoft 7/8 leggings. If you know, you know. These stay up, have the perfect amount of compression, and the 7/8 length is the sweet spot for avoiding that bunching at the ankle.

And of course, no run is complete without my Goodr sunnies. No slip, no bounce, and they actually stay on my face even when I start sweating. 😎

My "No-Fail" Florida Winter Running Uniform.
Finally chilly enough for long sleeves here in Florida! 🏃‍♀️ When I’m heading out for morning miles, I need gear that stays put and keeps me comfortable without overheating once I’ve warmed up.
Today’s look is head-to-toe Brooks Running. This long-sleeve is the perfect weight: breathable but just enough to cut the chill. Paired it with my favorite high-rise tights (yes, they actually stay up!) and the support I trust for every run.
Fit & Sizing:
•  Long Sleeve: Wearing an XL, fits true to size with room to breathe, but I want extra length for my height and the ability to layer underneath
• Tights: True to size, great compression! (Size Large)
•  Sports Bra: High support, no chafing (Size Large)
•    Sneakers: I always size up a half size in my Brooks for the perfect running fit.

    •    Next-Level Cushioning: They’ve updated the midsole to nitrogen-infused DNA LOFT v3. It’s noticeably softer and lighter than previous versions, making those recovery miles feel like a breeze.
    •    The Support You Love: It still features the signature GuideRails technology, which keeps excess movement in check—perfect if you overpronate or just need that extra stability when your legs get tired.
    •    Smoother Transitions: The heel-to-toe drop was lowered to 10mm (from 12mm), which gives it a much more balanced and natural feel underfoot.
    •    Florida Approved: The engineered mesh upper is super breathable (a must for our weather!) and the RoadTack rubber outsole is durable enough to survive endless miles on the pavement.
