Refresh living spaces for the new year and in preparation for the lunar new year with fresh linens in cozy waffle patterns and varied textures. I like to keep the color palette simple (and easy to clean with white cotton linens) but make it interesting with mixed and matched duvet set and pillow shams. These are my favorite to pair with a percale sheet for breathable comfort in any season. I lit up our outdoor space by rehanging, our outdoor café lights in a zigzag pattern, but this time I upgraded the hangers to heavy duty string light poles that securely stake into the ground.

I also added water resistant protective covers for the outdoor plug connections. The lights that I am using in the back yard as well as the extension cords are all water resistant however, I have these leftover from waterproofing, holiday, decorations and thought why not put them to use?!

For holidays, swap out some colorful LED string light replacement bulbs for a festive patio.

To take it to the next level- I added a smart outdoor plug (which has one of the best apps for controlling smart devices that I have ever used!!). The app allows me to program routines and schedules for my lights to turn on and off, and they can also be controlled by voice using our Alexa devices. In the late evenings, I never have to worry about turning the lights off myself, they will either go off at the time that they are supposed to or when we choose to shut them off. I am a big fan of smart devices inside of my home, it only makes sense to utilize them outside as well!

This has transformed the ambience in our backyard and patio space. The family cannot wait to enjoy the outdoors more during this spring and summer season.

It’s official! I need to start an “Empties” collection here on LTK! If we are friends on Instagram @SemiCrunchyAlwaysExtra then you know I have a stories highlight over there that I share only empties - products that I used and loved so much that I empty it and re-order another.

Guaranteed - everything that’s in there is worth it worth it. I am absolutely in love with these lip balms that give you a tint based on your pH. Between my daughter and I, we have emptied several of these, but this is the first time I am telling you about it!

This lip balm makes my lips feel so smooth and provides just a hint of color while enhancing lip health. I always make sure to never fully run out, there is always a tube on my nightstand as well as in my purse.

Keep everyone comfortable at your outdoor parties with this oversized market umbrella!

This umbrella is a triple sized umbrella that opens up wide and is single-handed operation! This large large patio umbrella provides just as much shade as my 10 x 12 pergola does over our backyard but it required no installation besides setting up the base (yes the weighted base is included!).

We got this 2 summers ago and I have never been happier to report that it is still in great condition. We keep it uncovered, most of the summer season, but I do cover it for extreme weather with a waterproof cover.

It’s a summertime must have! The bugs are on another level this year! To keep pests away, I’ve been swatting them with this electric fly swatter. It works on mosquitoes, gnats, and even wasps! ⚡️🪰🦟⚡️

Aside from being used in racket mode, you can set it in the base and leave on so continuously attract and zap and mosquito or fly that gets drawn to the light. The one I got even comes with an extension pole which is super handy for swatting a bug that’s *just* out of reach.

Refreshed my mermaid green and violet semi permanent hair color - so expect me in all black everything for a few days.

I love how good my hair feels after using this conditioning hair color formula- it’s non-damaging (vivid and lighter colors still require lightening dark hair) and doesn’t smell like yucky chemicals. My hair is left feeling soft after each time I color hair at home.

Wear a light colored dress (without everything being seen through light colored material) with this fully lined strapless dress.

This dress is very comfortable, stretchy and comes fully lined all the way down to the bottom, not just lined halfway. I’m wearing a black bra and underwear under this light pale pink and you can’t see a thing through it! I love the coverage that it provides, I’d be 100 percent comfortable getting this dress in the white color knowing nothing will show through the white dress.

The side slit is not terribly high, about knee height, so it’s a dress that works for evening date night or a daytime outfit without looking out of place.

I got influenced to order these wide leg pink pants- they are available in other colors though! I’m still trying to figure out which shoes to wear these with but they are flowy, have pockets, and work with this 15 year old cropped t shirt. I may need to stick to the low-mid heel heights with the inseam length on the size small.

I have been packing Bento boxes for my kids in advance for a while now, but I just started making them for my spouse too!

For my husband, I send a charcuterie snack box packed in a glass, bento box, I like the walls which help keep things in place. This is also handy for separating dry or crispy ingredients and wet/chilled ingredients.

For the kids, I double up and prepack the majority of their lunch trays, and add one extra component like a croissant or sandwich the morning of school. Their bento boxes are my favorite because there is a built-in ice pack tray. It keeps the cold right there as close to their food as possible, ensuring their lunch is served at a safe temperature. This is important because we are in hot, hot hot Texas.

to save myself some time, and an especially when I have shopped in bulk at Costco, more than one days worth of lunches at a time, there are spare trays that come with snap on lids and then you just snap it into the lunchbox shell on the next day.

Shade in the backyard is a luxury in Texas. If there’s anything that’s quick and easy to put up and get your yard summer ready, this is it! This extra large, 15 x 9’ patio umbrella does the trick. It’s HUGE, like a triple sized market patio umbrella providing ample shade, even greater shade cover than the backyard pergola we previously built and 1000x faster and easier to put together.

Simply anchor the base in a patio table- we used a hole cutter to put this through the middle of our picnic table. When not in use, simply wind it down and put a cover over it (optional).
