✨ Makeup Brush Reset ✨

A clean brush doesn’t just look better—it applies makeup better and can help extend the life of your brushes.

Here’s exactly how I clean mine:

🫧 Fill two shallow containers with warm water:
• One for small brushes
• One for larger brushes

I separate them by size so I can keep the ferrules (the metal part that holds the bristles) above the waterline.

🧴 Add a small squirt of a mild baby detergent to each container and let only the bristles soak for a few minutes while you prep the cleaning mat.

🪄 Wet a silicone makeup brush cleaning mat, add another small squirt of detergent, then gently swirl each brush over the different textured nubs to loosen makeup trapped deep in the bristles.

💧 Hold the brush over the mat under running water and continue swirling until the water runs clear. Repeat soap, swirl and rinse if needed.

🧺 Gently squeeze out excess water, lightly swirl the bristles across a clean towel to reshape them, then lay the brushes flat with the bristles hanging slightly over the edge of the counter until completely dry.

One important tip: avoid soaking the ferrule. Water can work its way inside, weaken the adhesive over time, and shorten the life of your brushes.

Easy DIY nontoxic whipped body butter that will keep your skin hydrated all winter long without all the junky ingredients in most store-bought body butters. I’m talking no fillers, no preservatives, no endocrine disruptors, no artificial fragrance or any other funky junk brands like to toss in their products. Just good-for-you ingredients that will hydrate your skin. You can use it from your face to your feet, and it’s gentle on sensitive skin.

Here’s my basic recipe that you can customize to your own liking.

I use unrefined butters and oils, but they do have a natural fragrance that could throw off the scent of any essential oils you add. If adding in essential oils to the whipped body butter, use refined butters and oils.

Recipe

1/2 cup Pure Unrefined Shea Butter
(Substitutes are Cocoa Butter or Mango Butter)
1/4 cup Organic, Unrefined, Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
1 Tbsp Arrowroot Powder or Corn Starch
1 Tbsp Organic Vegetable Glycerin
5-10 drops Essential Oil of choice (Optional)

Melt together Shea Butter and Coconut Oil. Add in Arrowroot Powder or Corn Starch and vegetable glycerine. Whisk to combine. Allow to cool until it firms up. Once firm (not hard), use a hand mixer or a stand mixer to whip up the body butter until it’s the consistency of whipped butter. Add in essential oil, if using. Continue to beat until well combined. Place in an airtight container and store in a cool dry place. If stored in a warm location, it could melt. Use within 6 months.

DIY Christmas Countdown Calendar.

Supplies:

Two 2” wooden cubes
One 3”x5” wooden plaque
Acrylic Craft Paint
Glitter (optional)
Modge Podge or glue
1.5” number stickers
Scrapbook Paper
Scissors or paper cutter
Foam Paint Brush or bristle paint brush

Directions:

-Paint the cubes and plaque. Let dry.
-Cut the scrapbook paper into twelve 1 3/4” squares.
-Put a coat of Modge Podge or glue on the back of each scrapbook paper square and attach to the center of each side of the cubes.
-Attach the number stickers to the cubes as follows:
Cube One: 0,1,2,3,4,5
Cube Two: 0,1,2,6,7,8
You’ll use the Number 6 side as Number 9
Optional Step: Paint a layer of Modge Podge over the cubes to add a protective barrier and shine. I sprayed clear acrylic spray paint over my glitter base to prevent glitter fallout.
