📸 Week 2/52. Do you ever stop and notice the morning light where you live? ☀️ As a photographer, one of my favorite things to capture has always been the way morning light dances through our home, across houseplants, quiet corners, and yes… the kids too. But what I love most is how it forces me to slow down. The light comes and goes so quickly. If I stay busy, I miss it. This little spot by my coffee bar has been getting the prettiest glow lately. The other morning we were rushing out the door for church, and I almost walked right past it, until I reminded myself to pause and capture it while I could. Because I knew by the time we came home… it would be gone. • Our P52 community is spending this year slowing down and noticing the everyday, the moments that usually pass quietly. Each week we’re given a simple prompt as an invitation to observe, photograph, and reflect on the life we’re already living. Easy dinner for a cozy night in:
ina garten–inspired slow cooker pot roast

Ingredients:
• 3–4 lb beef chuck roast
• salt + black pepper
• olive oil
• 2 onions, chopped
• 4 cloves garlic
• 4 carrots, chunks
• 2 celery stalks
• 2 tbsp tomato paste
• 1 cup dry red wine
• 2 cups beef broth
• 1 tbsp Worcestershire
• thyme + bay leaves
• baby potatoes (optional)

How I make it:
Season and sear the roast until browned.
Sauté veggies, garlic & tomato paste. Deglaze with wine.
Add everything to the slow cooker and cook LOW 8 hrs (or HIGH 4–5).
Optional: thicken the gravy with a quick butter + flour roux.

Cozy, low-effort, and the kind of dinner that cooks while life happens.

💌 A love note to my coffee bar…

For years, my espresso machine lived on the counter.
I’d swap out mugs with the seasons, add little festive touches,
and quietly dream of having a real coffee bar…
a place to decorate, linger, and truly enjoy.
It always felt like a maybe someday dream.

A few months ago, while reorganizing the house,
I realized my dresser didn’t quite belong anymore.
But it was the perfect height for a coffee bar,
and suddenly, the idea felt possible.

As Christmas approached, I started imagining what this space could become.

A cozy corner to sip coffee slowly,
work on a puzzle together,
and linger a little longer.

When we lived in NYC, we used to visit a small café at Christmas time, ornaments hanging from the ceiling, lights everywhere.
The kids loved it.
I carried that vision with me into this space this season.

Now this little corner holds hot cocoa mornings,
spilled sprinkles, sticky fingers,
and our pup basking in the sun.

📝 A love note to this week.

It’s been a week of slowly wrapping up our Christmas decorating. I worried that being sick would keep me from getting as much decor up as I hoped, but little by little, it came together.

This week has been full of festive warm mugs in my hands, flour-dusted counters, the smell of cookies lingering in the air, half-finished puzzles, cozy twinkly lights in every corner, and a house that feels lived in and loved.

The kids wake each morning eager to see where our elf Sparkles is hiding or what he’s been into. We’ve shared many hot cocoa mornings despite the warm Texas weather.

I’m soaking in these views, and the magic, for as long as I can, because Christmas is my favorite season, and it always goes by far too quickly.
