I’m in my 50s now, and here’s something wild: I look better than I did in my 30s and 40s.

For years I didn’t even realize how much I’d let myself fade into the background. Skipping the mirror instead of looking in it. Putting everyone else’s needs before my own, every single day.

Turning it around wasn’t one big overhaul. It was small, daily acts of choosing myself — the right fit over the “safe” size, sun rays instead of something to erase, showing up as me instead of hiding.

Your 50s aren’t a decline. They’re a return to yourself. Here are some of the things that helped me!

She wouldn’t give me a single hint, so I had to take my best guess! I went with polka dots, and apparently I know her pretty well because I was right.

Head straight to the big boys’ section for this shopping hack! 👀 We grabbed an XL boys’ Polo shirt, which fits like a women’s large or 10–12, while the boys’ large fits more like a women’s medium, and they’re about a third of the price. We actually prefer the boys’ fit through the shoulders, so if you’re broader up top like we are, this one is definitely worth trying.

This under-$50 Amazon dress looks SO much more expensive than it is! 🍂 We love the classic stripes and how easily it can be dressed up or down for fall. Add loafers and a sweater over the shoulders for an effortlessly polished look that works for brunch, the classroom, the office, and everything in between!

This J.Crew Cardigan is one that Tegan and I wear at least a few days a week. On days we are together we actually have to call each other to make sure both of us aren’t wearing it.
