I’m in my 50s now, and here’s something wild: I look better than I did in my 30s and 40s.

For years I didn’t even realize how much I’d let myself fade into the background. Skipping the mirror instead of looking in it. Putting everyone else’s needs before my own, every single day.

Turning it around wasn’t one big overhaul. It was small, daily acts of choosing myself — the right fit over the “safe” size, sun rays instead of something to erase, showing up as me instead of hiding.

Growing up is supposed to happen. Growing out of the house is supposed to happen. Nobody tells you it can feel like pride and grief holding hands at the same time.
