July 1st: 13 years locd in today 🥳

They told me not to cut my hair so short because it wouldn’t fit me.

They told me not to loc my hair because I would look “manish”, older, “unkept” and no man would ever want me. [the devil is a liarrrrr]

13 years later, I’m like “yuh, what was said?!” 😌

This life journey in particular has taught me to stay true to myself no matter what. No one sees the visions God put in my mind for a reason; it’s fa me!! There were times I couldn’t even see it but I had to trust that I would get there eventually.

I never have to prove anything to anyone because I have proven to MYSELF that I can stay focused, disciplined, and loyal above all else.

I have lil teenage locs now ahhhh 🤪

You ever met somebody that is always doing something? Well that’s me lol I always have and always will love a good DIY project baby. From arts and crafts to construction and cleanouts, “doing the most” is what I was put on this earth to do.

As I go through old inventory and deal with new vendors (annoying) to get @nativ3co back and boppin, I have come across some amazing pieces to get me through this no retwist season.

This scarf is my new favorite and Im so excited to present “Leo”. Shes soooo cute and turns up any fit! Lately I’ve been throwing her on with a cute pair of shades and people think I tried 😂 (I in fact did not) because baby these last few weeks of the school year… why didnt yall tell me how hectic it is?!

Also back in my sunglass girl era. 🕶️ Fun fact: one of my favorite jobs was working @sunglasshut right after college.

Back to the “or whatever” of things, here we have one of my favorite cleaning products everrrr Dawn Powerwash.

Now she is my girl but the way I use her she can get a lil pricey so when I found out how to DIY it of course that’s what I did because thats what I do and I haven’t run out of her since 🙏🏾

DIY Dawn Powerwash Refill
What you need:
•1/2 cup Dawn Dish Detergent (any dish detergent works though lowkey)
•1/4 cup of Isopropyl Alcohol (see notes below for disinfectant info)
•Distilled water
•empty spray bottle
What to do:
Combine ingredients in empty spray bottle. Gently shake to combine. Add top back on and it is ready for use.

**In order for this to be a disinfectant, 70 percent rubbing alcohol is best. This DIY Dawn Powerwash is too diluted to properly disinfect but an excellent degreaser.

Also don’t just go spraying this on random surfaces. Always do a test swipe to prevent damage bookie 😘

I started my loc journey before the age of sharing knowledge on the innanets. There were like 5-6 people who shared their loc journey on Youtube at the time and they all gave me the guts to start my own. Hell people who did locs didn’t even call themselves locticians until I was probably 5 years in!

I say all that to say, do what you want with YOUR head. Take advice and tips from the pros and loc vets but at the end of the day the journey is YOURS.

Again, I have been locd for over 12 years now and my locs have changed sooo much since then. I don’t even know how many I started with tbh. After having an undercut at one point, postpartum shedding TWICE, and just randomly combining some of my locs because I wanted to, it is for sure not the same number…

Ran out of my favorite body scrub so I tried to make a copy cat 🐱

When you see the container you already know which one it is and I already had every to make it so why not?

What you need:
1.5 cups Sugar
4 tablespoons Coconut oil
1 tablespoon Body wash
5 drops Fragrance oil

I prefer a more coarse scrub so I didn’t add too much oil and body wash. If you make it and prefer a smoother texture add more oil and body wash or add sugar to balance it out.

Got2b has been my go to for my edges for a while now but since she decided to grow legs and walk out my door I decided to try something new…

This is my first time trying a @mielleorganics product and because I’m also looking for products for my daughter’s hair as well I’m sure it won’t be the last product from @mielleorganics

So about this edge control…

Overall it’s a 7/10 for me. This is definitely a medium-soft hold on my hair. I tried it with and without my edge band and it did about the same. No residue which is a huge plus and I like the smell, but I need a lot more hold. I prefer a medium hold for baby girls hair so that’s probably who will be using this the most.

Attempting to cut out processed sugars/food here goes nothing 🫣

Instead of my sugary coffee in the morning or that bomb a$$ cherry lemonade from Chic-fil-a, it’s either water or my own fresh pressed juice. 🧃

During the pandemic, I tapped into my green thumb and grew my own food. I had time and no excuses so I also learned how to make so many things from scratch. I’m pretty confident that I can make most of the things I want and also save money by avoiding the middle of the grocery store where most of the processed stuff is.

This juice is good for anyone who doesn’t like the taste of greens (even though you need em bookie). Very refreshing and hydrating AND the kids like it (bonus points). You can adjust the ingredients depending on how sour or sweet you like it.

What you need:
1 Cucumber 🥒
1 Pineapple 🍍
2 limes 🍋
Ginger 🫚
Water 💦
Honey 🍯

I use my ninja, a citrus juicer thing, a strainer, bowl, spoon and a jar for storage. I put the left over juice on ice and the rest in the refrigerator. Its best when its super cold…

Q: Air dry or sit under the dryer?

Me personally, my hair is too thick for me to even consider sitting under the dryer unless I absolutely have too.

With this hooded hair bonnet dryer attachment, I get some “sit under the dryer” without having to actually sit up under a dryer. 30 minutes to an hour of this does me right and I don’t mind air drying the rest of the way.

During the summertime, I’m air drying all day but the dryer attachment saves my tail when its cold out.

Cleanse and condition
The way my hair is so soft and light but my po neck 😮‍💨

Today I wanted to lowkey deep cleanse so I used my castile soap. Using the applicator bottle to dilute the Dr. Bronners and get it to the depths of your roots is what you need 🤌🏾

I also deep conditioned with my favorite Macadamia deep repair mask. Sallys sells it in a snag but I can usually find it at Marshalls. This stuff smells sooo good and leaves my hair super soft. Had to use a produce bag because where would I find a processing cap or shower cap to fit all this hurrr?!
