What do I do at a Korean spa? If you want to go to a Korean Spa, but you’re nervous. I’m going to give you the only guide you need, bebe! I go to the Korean spa at least once a month to refresh my skin, do a hair wash day, or soothe any aches and pains. This is the routine I use to bring my skin back to life when it gets dull in the winter. Important to know entrance into the spa is normally between $30-$50 but the body scrub(shampoo) will be extra and it can range around $60-$80. Does this count as snow storm prep? I find myself reaching for more Japanese skincare during the winter. They are really hydrating without leaving your face feeling wet and having a wet face in cold weather feels so wrong and uncomfortable. I suggest adding some Japanese skincare brands to your winter routine if you have dry skin but don’t want to have “cold face” when you walk out the door.

Also I’m so unserious but please take care of yourself out here in this weather. Drip them faucets and wear your sunscreen bebe! Get all the supplies and take all the precautions you can. It’s better to be over prepared than not at all. Also don’t be greedy😅 save some bread for others. Do you think this winter storm is going to be bad in your area?

I went on a wellness and beauty-focused trip to South Korea and threw my routine and half of my products away. Here’s what I learned:

I was washing my face wrong. I learned that double cleansing first (oil cleanser then a cleansing wash) is best at night or when you wear makeup. And your oil cleanser should stay on your face for 10 minutes, sprayed with water, then rubbed in little circles until it creates a creamy texture, then you wash it off.

I was applying makeup to my face while it was warm. Use a fan to make sure your face is cool, maybe even cold, and your makeup will last longer.

My sunscreen wasn’t strong enough. A new UV filter hasnt been approved in the US since the 1990s. Koreans use SPF 50 PA+++, a newer, more advanced UV filter that protects the skin on a whole other level and the formulas are less thick and leave white casts.

I let my sheet masks expire early. Put them in the refrigerator before use. It will absorb better, and it prevents it from drying out in the package.

I was stacking products that do the same thing or make each other useless. I had a serum, moisturizer, and wash that cancel each other out.

I was using the same skincare and makeup products all year long. I should have been using heavier and thicker products in the winter, and lighter products during the warm seasons.

I was using one thick layer of foundation. Foundation lasts longer if you do multiple thin layers.

Skincare is preventative, not reactive. If I had a more solid routine it would prevent issues and emergency fixes.

Full disclosure. There are nekkid people😅 but women and men are separated and it’s only in one specific area of the spa, which in my opinion is the best room but more on that later.
But don’t let that stop you from pampering yourself at a Korean Spa or Jjimjilbang Bebe! This type of spa is perfect for relaxing, skin rejuvenation, detoxing your body, and soothing a sore body. I even do my wash day there.

I found gray hair in my teens and covered it up. Now it’s my most complimented feature and the huge weight off of my back to hide it. But now I see it as a mark of wisdom, uniqueness, life experiences, ancestors and a rebellion against beauty standards that have us in a chokehold I will never understand ageism I will never understand why we punish people for getting older and actually being alive. Everything you need to know before getting an Ethiopian Sewin. It was not on my bingo card that I would get hate for going to an Ethiopian hair salon, but I try not to take it personal because I know if anyone is upset they are normally coming from a place of lack of education on the subject or being triggered by something that has nothing to do with me, but to the 99% that really got the plot. I wanted to answer some more questions. So here’s what you need to know before you go get your first Ethiopian sew in. There’s two different types. One is more traditional. It’s with the tiny braids in the front and then they sew in hair in the back.

Gamme- hair is divided in the middle with 4 or 5 braids going towards the ear, and the rest going straight back. Traditionally worn by engaged women. Changes through stages of life:

- Dfun Gamme after marriage
- Sadula add larger braids after first child
- Dfun after 3 kids all braided to the back
- Sierget the thin braid across forehead for adornment

and the second type is a modern sewing that’s what I got that is more like an every day style except they use certain techniques like the thin traditional braids in your base, use natural products that have Ethiopian herbs in them and they have hands like angels. I’ve never felt such soft braiding. I didn’t even have soreness when I got out of the seat I appreciate it not being bulky, looks so natural. I’m actually about to go get another one next week.
