5 Things I Started Doing for My Hair

1. Invest in Salon-Grade Quality Products and Tools:
Using professional-grade, quality formulas (like sulfate-free shampoos, deep conditioners, and heat protectants) and heat tools that maintain an even, consistent temperature.

2. Prioritize Deep Conditioning & Steaming:
Make a dedicated deep conditioning treatment a non-negotiable part of every wash day, using a hair steamer or heated cap to allow the moisture and proteins to penetrate the hair shaft for maximum benefit.

3. Use a Clarifying Shampoo Regularly:
Incorporate a clarifying shampoo once a month or every 4-6 weeks to remove product buildup (especially if you use heavy oils or silicones), ensuring your conditioning treatments can actually work and your hair feels lighter and cleaner.

5. Master the Blow Dry Technique (The Foundation of a Press):
Instead of just rough-drying, use the tension method with a blow dryer and a comb/brush attachment to get the hair as straight as possible while wet. This minimizes the need for high heat from the flat iron later, reducing heat damage.

5. Always Use a High-Quality Heat Protectant (and Re-Apply):
Never skip the heat protectant! Use one that can withstand temperatures up to 450c and apply it in small sections before both the blow-drying and flat-ironing stages.
