What do you actually want for Mother’s Day? It was the question we’d ask my mom after her reply to our first inquiry was “obedient children”. Her request might have made it easier on my wallet, but it meant that for at least a day I had to mind my p’s and q’s. Fast forward thirty years and she still uses this same reply, though we’ve been able to wheedle out a few things actually does want. Or perhaps we’ve gotten to know her better as adults.
