Honestly I hated the first 40% of the book and almost DNFed it a few times because I hated the story line. But I pushed through because of the hype surrounding it. Did it live up to the hype? 49. Heart the Lover by Lily King :: 4/5⭐️ Jordan meets 2 best friends Sam and Yash in one of her college classes, and this book follows the trio throughout their lives. Maybe if I wasn’t doing things while I was listening to this book it would have landed more of an emotional punch, but it just didn’t seem as worth the hype to me? For sure well written and such a great love story. If you loved My Friends you would LOVE this!

47. Yours for the season by Uzma Jalaluddin 4.5/5⭐️ Sameera is a lawyer whose job is on the line. When her mom hosts a party and the very handsome Tom Cooke is the caterer, who very quickly learns how to make samosas like her mom makes them, the two can feel the chemistry immediately. Sameeras family does not believe that she and Tom aren’t together so they plan to fake date just to make everyone get off their backs. Well, Sameeras mom takes it a little too far and her whole family winds up with Toms whole family in Alaska at his house for Christmas. I actually really liked this book! It was sweet, zero spice, and just an all around good read for the holidays.

46. The Last Father Daughter Dance by Lisa Windgate :: 4/5⭐️. Kalista is in a rush to get home. Her dad’s heart transplant surgery got postponed and now the future is more uncertain. When her dad insists they spend time at their beloved cabin in the middle of nowhere, reluctantly Kal agrees and off they go to make all 4 seasons happen in one month. This book was very sweet, but I really wish there was one more chapter just wrapping everything up. I felt like just as my eyes were getting a little misty, it just ended.!

43. The intruder by Freida McFadden :: 4/5⭐️ Casey has been living in a cabin in the woods by choice after her life changed a few months prior. A storm is on the way and her roof can barely hold on a regular day, but she decides to stay in the house and ride out the storm. It’s not until she she’s a light in her shed out back that she braves the weather to find out who this intruder is. In true Frieda fashion, the end of this book was so twisty and I was here for it!! I have a love hate relationship with this author. The beginning of the story seemed very juvenile and I did not like the writing style. Then the middle sucked me in and the ending had me gasping a couple of times. If you’re new the thriller genre you’ll LOVE this one!

42. No one can know by Kate Alice Marshall :: 4.25/5⭐️ Emma, Juliette, and Daphne are sleeping in their tree house for the night only to wake up to the news that their parents are dead. Shocking news right? Except someone knows the whole story, and someone took the fall for it. Fast forward, Emma is married and she and her husband have fallen on hard times, it seems the only think they can do is move back to the house where Emma’s parents died all those years ago. But is she actually welcomed back, after all, the whole town thinks she’s the murderer. I thought this book was really good! Got a little twisty at the end, and ya know I love a twisty story!

41. The night we lost him by Laura Dave :: 3.75/5⭐️ this book takes place in Brooklyn and I always love hearing about some neighborhoods that I know or used to know well in books! Nora’s dad dies suddenly at his home in California, the police rule it an accident but Nora’s half brother doesn’t think this is accurate. So the two travel to California and what they uncover is a whole history they didn’t know anything about. While this book was categorized as a thriller, I wouldn’t really say it was, seemed more of a family drama to me, and slow paced, detailed family drama.

40. My Friends by Fredrik Bachman :: 5/5⭐️ Louisa just lost her best friend Fish, and she REALLY wants to see a painting that she has been obsessed with. But the painting is in a fancy gallery with snobby rich people who think it’s just a painting of the sea, but Louisa knows it’s so much more than that. I guess Louisa gets too close to the painting and the snobby rich people don’t like that. So she is chased out of the gallery and finds herself colliding w a homeless person in an alleyway. This chance encounter sets her life on a whole new trajectory. I fully expected to be sobbing at multiple points in this book, but it was actually amazing, and I never actually cried lol. It’s one of those heartbreakingly beautiful books that just makes you want to hug all of the characters and tell them it’ll all be ok. Didn’t like the fact that they kept calling a 39 year old character old and elderly though🤣.

39. Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry :: 4/5⭐️ Margaret Ives has lead a very interesting life and then seemingly falls off the grid for a few decades. Now she is ready to tell her story. Alice and Hayden are competing for 1 month to write Margaret’s life story. A lot can happen in a month tho, and because of the NDAs both competitors sign, neither can discuss what they speak about. But Alice and Hayden have something special going between themselves. While I LOVED the ending of this book I fell asleep within the first 6 pages when I first started reading. It was a great book, but didn’t hold my interest as much as other books. I really liked the concept and would still recommend though!

38. When you disappeared by John Mars :: 4/5⭐️ one morning Catherine wakes up and Simon isn’t next to her. His side of the bed hasn’t even been slept in. He’s probably gone to work early. When his coworker also calls looking for him a full on manhunt ensues to no avail. Does Simon actually want to be found tho..? Everyone has moved on but then a knock at the door changes everything and 25 years later, Simon is back, and he’s got a story to tell. This was not the book I was expecting it to be. It was still a great book though!

The Restoration Garden by Sara Blaydes :: 4.25/5⭐️ Julia is hired to restore the gardens of Havenworth Manor, a once beautiful mansion in the English countryside that has landed in much disrepair since it was bombed during the early parts of WWII. Margaret wants the gardens to reflect exactly how they looked in 1940. Julia must first figure out what they looked like during that exact time in history without any photographs or descriptions of the gardens during that time. She uncovers the family secrets and the truth behind what really happened at Havenworth. Jumping between the present days restoration and late 1930s-1940 this books gives a glimpse into what it was like to live in England during WWII. I really liked the way it was written

36. The Academy by Elin Hilderbrand :: 3.5/5⭐️ Tiffin Academy is a New England boarding school with it’s own set of drama. It was just rated #2 in the country. But when a new app, zip zap, takes the boarding school world by storm, all of Tiffins dirty laundry is sprayed all over the app. Who started the app and how can it get taken down before all of this bad press ruins Tiffins reputation!? I felt like it was a good story, but I kind of feel like it just ended.
